Which one is that? In Sweden Roxette songwriter Per Gessle's Swedish Grammy-nominated solo album Mazarin was one of the bestselling albums of 2003 as well as one of the better ones. It sounds more like Jackson Browne then Roxette. - -- Daniel ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 Jan 2004 13:43:17 +0100 From: Daniel Atterbom Subject: Re: [AVALON] Re: Ferry's Willpower & staying power At 11.25 +0000 04-01-16, Dave Taylor wrote: >Marlana - How do you know this ? We know little of his private feelings. - -- Daniel ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 Jan 2004 07:45:50 EST From: KWil632057@aol.com Subject: Re: [AVALON] Willpower Bryan's Will is weak. T BTW: Having checked these disks and especially the WB song sorry Reecey but I think those WW actually add to the song its nice to hear proper singers doing their job instead of one female (trying to do her best) and two stage dressings (with the mikes turned down). - --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. We're all sick of it, it's not one of his best and there's no way of being a fan and avoiding it. Jealous Guy - a tribute! surely can no longer be regarded as anything other than evidence that Ferry is obsessed with commercial success. Hence it is wheeled out at every oppertunity to remind people that yes! Roxy Music had a number one single. Surely the point of a tribute is to fondly remember somebody, in this case fallen hero John Lennon but is it there to remind us of Lennon or is it just part of the Roxy/Ferry hits package that close his live shows? Watching Ferry perform the track for the 74,00000th time at Miss World is a chore and hardly does much for the case that Ferry is an innovative artist. Similarly, Avalon (the album) is always cited by Ferry as his peak (commercial yeah but hardly his finest musical hour) then the conclusion must be drawn that Mr Ferry is in it for the cash. If not then why are the past commercial glories mentioned but not the great albums such as In Your Mind, Siren etc. Why attempt various remakes of the Avalon format (Boys and Girls through to Mamouna) with diminishing success? Why would a man supposedly looking towards the future seem to be so preoccupied with exploiting the past?
