Not sure what the definitive BF boot is though, I'm quite partial to the As Time Goes By Tour, there's also a couple of good recordings from the 1977 tour. The Wolverhampton 1995 show recorded by the BBC is also a nice one, good versions of Can't Let Go and Dream Home on there. I wouldn't say that there is a definitive Ferry boot, one or two good ones from each tour probably. I think the quote is something about Bryan being jealous because Eno got all the girls and was "f*cking like a rabbit". There were also some musical/non-musical differences. Maybe Eno wanted Roxy to do his songs but Ferry wanted to keep creative control. Eno released 3 albums of songs in the two years immediately after leaving Roxy, so they must have been building up somewhere and needed to get out. To be honest, I don't think they could have continued as they were. Eno's role was greatly diminished on FYP, he probably spent more time in the control room than in the actual studio. To move on and develop musically, Roxy needed a competent player, especially when touring. Roxy were no less creative after Eno's departure, but the sound became more of an exploration of aural textures rather than a sonic assault as had been previous. Until you get to Flesh + Blood that is! ;-) SimonG ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 Aug 2003 10:34:36 -0400 From: KB Porter Subject: Re: [AVALON] new material "Does this say something about the quality of the Roxy songbook??" That lightning probably will not strike twice in the same place? .) Roxy Music belongs to the past. Its reincarnation, as we know it today, is only one step closer to the 'real' RM than is the band "Remake/Remodel". Imagine the Exxon/Esso/Imperial 'tiger in your tank' without essence/gas/fuel/petrol. - Or the Michelin 'tire man' low on air - deflated. Fans expecting the whole shebang complete with the Roxy moxy of the 70's have neatly set themselves up for the evident fall - no one, nothing, no set of individuals will ever again be 'Thee' Roxy Music. ('The originals are still the greatest'!) For the mass of music listeners, the original players can not duplicate the special spark that made Roxy Music the 'right thing, in the right place, at the right time'. Current RM players may only hope to rekindle our smolder with their current fare. However, if They are Willing to Really Work and Play together again, they are Capable of producing some very fine and wonderful New and Original Music that is In Step with their capabilities and creative niches as they Exist Today - only then, may they light fire. It is not realistic for anyone to expect today's RM to be 'thee Roxy Music of yesteryear. And I thank God for that - go to keep on moving, or die. Best wishes. KBP PS - Simon, Bahi, Christian, et al - nice discussion going, please don't take it off list. You guys know music with a depth that I do not possess, and I enjoy the expansion of thoughts and ideas that your conversations are evoking within. Thank you, Gentlemen! ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 Aug 2003 11:54:11 EDT From: DEAGLERR@aol.com Subject: [AVALON] NY Shows Tree closed I 'm gonna pull the plug on the NY shows offer for now.
