This is their first cd I bought from them and in the booklet I found this: In 99 they released the album 'an ideal crash' and lucy wilkins played strings on some songs. She is mentioned like this: Browndog (Lucy wilkins, rebecca doe, robert spriggs, oil kraus) Strings. Cheers Michhle - ------------------------------------------- Regardless of musicians and considering this is a Roxy Music maling list everyone here should own "Worst Case Scenario" - absolutley indispensible album. Like the offspring of "For Your Pleasure" and "Trout Mask Replica". Well aside from the unbearbly humid weather, that, call me a wimp, we simply just don't get in Southern California, my first NYC trip was a success. One of the highlights for me revolved around John Lennon. On Friday, I went by the Dakota and by the JL memorial in Strawberry Fields. Then to hear Ferry sing Jealous Guy in NYC, made me think of Lennon watching down over NY. Also, strangely enough, they were playing the music video on the plane before take-off! It was quite poetic. The shows left me in awe. My seat at Jones Beach was in the front row directly in front of Ferry. Wow! That made my first time seeing Roxy Music all the more exciting. Was a little upset with the small crowd turnout at Jones Beach, but my philosophy is, get used to it, this is the case with almost all good music! Also thought it was weird the crowd didn't dance more. I got a "sit down" vibe from the audience on "Both Ends Burning" at Radio City. Give me a break! You gotta dance to that one! Seeing them on Saturday in Costa Mesa. Can'r wait for another round! Craig _______________________________________________ Eliminate pop-ups before they appear! That was the oddest thing. People were having posters and CD's signed instead. All they were selling at Radio City Music Hall were t-shirts (all except one were from the 2001 tour), and posters: one was of the Country Life cover, I didn't see what the other one was. Not only was it a great evening, but a good friend of mine missed the show. He had a massive heart attack the night before. I met his business partner during the encore, who told me. If anyone can get their paws on a copy of this evening - it would really be appreciated, and would give my friend a boost whilst he's recovering. Please email me off-list if you can help, and be advised I'll be on vacation for 10 days, so won't be checking mail in that time. Daniel ... thanks for the welcome, but to be honest I've often felt like a stranger in a strange land. I sought out the list in the belief that it would be the best spot on the 'net to shine attention on ticket practices which, at best, are abusive of Roxy's most loyal fans ... if not downright criminal. I've been amazed that with only a couple exceptions, there's been no reaction, and none that you would define as outraged. Karin wrote that "Clear Channel is evil and should be avoided at all costs." I agree completely. However a quick look at the venues owned by Clear Channel, and the list of over 3,000 events they are currently promoting (disregarding for the moment, their 1,800 radio stations) makes it obvious that being a music fan and avoiding C.C., is like visiting Houston and avoiding the toxic air. There was another post (which I accidentally deleted) in which someone was trying to unload three good seats for the Chicago show, and was 'willing to accept almost any offer'. Think about that. A $72 ticket (a steep price to begin with) has been devalued to nearly $0, thanks to ticket promotions that arrived a week before the show ... well after the loyal fans have made their purchase hoping to secure the best seat possible. (Silly us. The last time I checked, the best seats in the house were in the hands of "legal" ticket brokers, with a $245 price tag.) And of course, in a 30,000 seat venue, price based on supply and demand dictates that they pay us to show up! That's ridiculous, right? No more so than $173.40 for a pair of tickets (the total including TicketBastard charges). Erase the name of the band for a minute. The bottom line is, we've been screwed. And yet the most pressing issue on the Avalon list seems to be, what to wear to the show!! So I went to my local tailor and asked what was appropriate to wear to one's own rape? His response, of course, was "nothing." Of course, with the exception of Radio City, the venues which comprise this mini-tour are what the concert industry refers to as "sheds", as in, an open-sided, cement barn ... designed for an efficient hosing of the beer and vomit and hot dog shrapnel down the storm drain. If the band cares to raise the aesthetic of the event, then I would suggest they stay out of the barns ... otherwise grab some work jeans, a white T-shirt and rubber boots and leave the Armani suits to the 4-H kids at the State Fair. Oh, sorry California ... your show is AT the State Fair, isn't it? Okay, now that I've offended everyone on the list, please understand that I'm angry, but it's not directed at any of you. Hell, I don't even know you. But unless the people who REALLY CARE about the music ... people who have invested not just their money, but pieces of their emotional life in the music ... start making noise and stop accepting whatever is dished out ... NOTHING IS EVER GOING TO CHANGE ... certainly not for the better. In case you're wondering, I mailed my $173.40 pair of tickets to Clear Channel, along with a letter, an article clipped from the paper regarding the latest investigation of C.C. by the Justice Department ... and a coupon for K-Y Jelly. Next up for me ... Tindersticks at Chicago's 750-seat Park West nightclub, and Smog, at the 400-seat, acoustically pristine, Old Town School. Where there's music and heart, there's hope.
