I struggled to think of 13 Roxy albums that went gold. It must include some of the Roxy/Ferry compilations. So the 8 studio albums plus Viva; Street Life; The Ultimate Collection and I'm sure I remember seeing the gold disc symbol next to the 'Atlantic Years' in the charts from the time - OK that only equals 12. Alternatively, multi awards could be the answer. As gold discs are awarded for 100k sales and Platinum for 300k sales, might it be possible to apply for double gold status for 200k sales? Of course gold/platinum discs are awarded for albums shipped to retailers, not over the counter sales, so an album doesn't have to sell 100k to apply for an award. I did post recently to Phil's site asking if anyone knew which albums had received awards, but no one has posted a reply as yet. Regards, Alan PS - while 13 gold discs might sound impressive, it pales in comparison to Simply Red who hold the record for the most platinum awards - 38 in all. There's no accounting for taste NP - anything but Simply Red ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 25 Jul 2003 12:52:07 EDT From: OBrienFerry@aol.com Subject: [AVALON] CD Packs In a message dated 25/07/03 17:20:46 GMT Daylight Time, m_shanahan@mail2batman.com writes: > July Update posted by Jim Lawn 25.07.03 > > Later in the year Virgin will be releasing the following double CD packs > worldwide excluding the USA: > > BRYAN FERRY - Another Time, Another Place + Let's Stick Together > > ROXY MUSIC - Siren + Country Life These CD packs have been out a while Full details here: http://www.vivaroxymusic.com/news_20030512a.shtml J.O'B. ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 25 Jul 2003 11:02:52 -0700 From: "mark shanahan" Subject: Re: [AVALON] CD Packs um, good eye, john. imagine bryanferry.com being behind the times (is it time for a revamp? no, i don't mean just the website, thanks). who the devil's buying all this stuff?? oh, sorry john ... ;^) the selling point being (beyond completist-ishism) that they're 2 different discs packaged together ... in a different kind of *plastic*??
