Note to Avalonians attending the Radio City and/or Jones Beach shows. Less than a week, guys!!! If interested in a pre-show/train meet-up E mail me offlist. The below is only a suggestion. If someone else has a better idea, uh, ...whip it out. Sorry if pedantic, but it's even a confusion for the locals. I imagine some of you furreners might turn up too. Regards, R Deagle - ---------------- My scouting has turned up, The Pig & Whistle at 165 W 47th St between 6 & 7th avenues 212-302-0112 3 blocks to Radio City Music Hall. Close, friendly & reasonable prices. They have an upstairs which is quieter. They'll reserve a space, and maybe throw in some free nibbles if there are enough of us. It's an after work, pre theater sort of place. Drinks & food. With the show at 8pm, any time after say... 6:30pm on Sat the 26th. _______________ Meeting in Manhattan to go to Jones beach, Via Long Island Railroad, is a little more problematic. Nothing really interesting (either scuzzy or what I consider expensive) So... There's a Lindy's directly across 7th Avenue from Penn Station's main entrance. Ground floor of the Hotel Pennsylvania. Next to the corner Roy Rogers (a holster of fries to go with the Triggerburger, sir?) 401 7th Ave @32 St. Famous for their cheesecake, but... bar there too. From 5pm on? Trains leave at various times, I'd suggest the 6:16 train. It gets to Freeport at 7pm leaving a short wait for the bus to the theater. (7:20) next train at 6:36, gets to Freeport at 7:18, I.E. 2 minutes of wait, but a big wait (8:10) if there's a snag. Train $8.75 one way the RT should be less than double Tickets available for extra$ on the train if you run tight on time. Make sure you have EXACT change ($4) or a metrocard with 2 rides for the bus.!!!! They won't take paper $. - ---------------------------- ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 Jul 2003 17:44:49 EDT From: DEAGLERR@aol.com Subject: Re: [AVALON] Is it raining in New York, on Fith Avenue? BTW as to the NYC shows. I have perfect serviceable but not LEGENDARY seats. Close, but off to the side. Anybody with an extra center section first 10-15 rows seat, let me know. Either NY show.
