We are only a couple of seats further along the row which is not too bad. It was good to get the priority letter but I can't help thinking "what if the postman had been late that day?" On a recent trip to the beach I thought it was the ideal opportunity to give him a chance to become a fan of Roxy/Ferry. I played several albums, Bete noir, Bride, Avalon, Frantic, Best of etc--he hated it!! he said Ferry couldn't string more than 3 words together!, songs were samey and Roxy was not a patch on the Doors/Jim Morrison. Now I like the Doors too and both groups were innovative in their time, maybe that's the problem we are not comparing apples with apples!! I argued for the longevity of Ferry, the sucess of individual band members solo careers after Roxy--what did the Doors do after Morrison died? I am curious what anyone else may think about comparing these two bands Lynn from Wigan ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Jun 2003 16:17:51 +0200 From: "danyellow" Subject: [AVALON] song for USA? mhhhh Lyn I guess U can't compare Michelangelo to Caravaggio different times different genius :-) ur man in italy dan PS by the way Roxy were not so succesfull in USA and FERRY had is own ideas about the reason why... I am an American & also live in North Carolina (born and raised) and if it's any consolation I have absolutely NO Doors in my music library... zero-zip-zilch-nada. Never hooked me at all, got my fill of the Doorkskies on the radio, thank-you-very-much. There is of course a rather sizable chunk of Roxy Music & Ferry spinning going on at home and in my car. Roxy fans are few and far between in this neck of the woods my dear, and I doubt you're going to win many converts in the Tarheel state unless you're spinning music on a local university radio. Just be thankful hubby's not a Nantucket or Molly Hatchet fan (but then, my HORRORS, maybe he is!) This is the End (a la Nico NOT Morrison) D.
