Pretentious? Yes, but in the right way. Like early Roxy, there's a nostalgic feel to them whilst being unlike any of their contemporaries (apart from Interpol, but a good bit of ocean separates them). Obvious reference points are Joy Division, Psychedelic Furs and Echo & The Bunnymen. Definitely all influences but BSP don't set out to copy them, they're doing their own thing. And it's a great title for a debut album - The Decline of British Sea Power. And it's a fantastic name for a band.
