Having received the Outstanding Contribution To British Music Award at the recent and much sought-after Ivor Novello Awards, he's sure to put the cherry on the cake with the 21st anniversary re-release of Avalon and the regrouping of Roxy Music later this summer. This year, Roxy Music's outstanding finale, Avalon, is being remastered and re-released to celebrate its 21st anniversary." For more details, go see: http://www.the-raft.com/news1162 Nothing and none of this as exciting as the news that Bowie's 2003-04 world tour dates are being announced on Monday morning June 16.... Looks like Daniel beat me to the answer. It was nice to read your appreciation of Tomo on the Manifesto tour. I am of the opinion that drummers tend to get overlooked, Many people seem to think that the drummer in a band can be easily replaced, I think Tomo goes along way in answering those thoughts....Roxy missed him terribly on the Flesh and Blood tour. And its great to hear the ovation the true Roxys always give him at the gigs...He sure is a special talent. Regards. Dancing requires the whole body, seated dancing is akin to a passionless kiss...it's half-assed so why bother. My God, what are we coming to when unable to dance at a concert without offending someone? Being civilized does not mean being lifeless. I am personally acquainted with some jazz masters(the members of the incredible southern California jazz group Fourplay, Larry Carlton, Nathan East, Bob James, and Harvey Mason)traditionally most folks would boogie in their respective seat, and intellectualize the music. Nathan has on several occasions said he prefers when people dance during a show, as it is a visual confirmation that folks are enjoying themselves. The band really digs it! While I LOVE to dance, and I LOVE Roxy Music, I cannot imagine the present incarnation of the band illiciting ANY rendition of ANY song from their repetoire that would motivate me to an arabesque mid-concert. While "Both Ends Burning" comes close to shagadelic & "Avalon" would make for a mean-slow bump n grind, I can think of several other venues (other than a public concert hall ) and other artists (present AND past) that can better bring about the Funk from my bootay...
