The band I used to be in decided were were going to throw a punked up rendition of Virginia Plain into the set, this presented the problem of not knowing the lyrics so down we sat with paper, pen and a finger on the pause button after every line.... after 60,000 run throughs of the track we had some holes and discrepencies we filled with soundalike kinda phrases hoping nobody would notice (and nobody did)... and here they are "youre so chic, teeth is kinda rubbery", "at midnight you can see in the floor", "take me for 6 daqys in London" and my personal favourite - "can you see that horse ma man?..." "As I've said before: flame wars about Roxy/Ferry are one thing, but flame wars over other artists don't belong here. We all have different tastes and there's no reason for any of this on Avalon." And there should be no place on Avalon List for the type of venomous attacks by one 'contributor' directed at another: Mark Yates not only inappropriately, but crudely, applies his drip where ever and whenever he pleases. So much for civility. It's very easy to understand why many members have ceased to offer contributions due to the ridicule of others who are merely jealous and only wish to detract from anyone who is different from their ideal. A-List should not be allowed to descend into the depths of non-sense. Thank You. And Mark - I refuse to not be bullied by your disgraceful being. I bother with it because I wish not to let my movement become too obnoxious for others - out of consideration - some people do not like standing (and should not be forced to do so when they have purchased reserve seating) and there are also people who are not physically able to stand for some length of time. The minor inconvenience to me is preferably than the negative emotions that may result as a consequence of 'doing what I please'. Of course, I hope you realize that my stance on this subject is moderated and necessarily varied for each unique instance. One must use their 'better judgment'. "Being civilized does not mean being lifeless." I don't believe anyone wrote that, and it is folly to think in such extreme terms. Isn't it entirely possible to enjoy a full life while maintaining civility and demonstrating consideration of others around you? Best wishes. I you'd like to thank all those who have e-mailed me off list in support of my many discussions KBP, thanks for teaching the rest of the list how to dance in a seat.....very educational. Now have you any views on the New Roxy CD? Or have I missed them? this is a Roxy discussion board after all...........Unfortunately KBP your discussions on anything Roxy are somewhat limited, apart from the countless criticisms that you embark upon. IN fact I have never known anyone who is as rude as you but unlike me your rudeness is born of ignorance.......The rest of the list tolerate my post because they know I feel passionately about the subject matter. Your threads are about as passionate as a "Wet Lettuce".....and now you have "nailed your colours to the mast" I can understand why.....I was often puzzled as to why nearly all of your previous posts contained very little about music.........lots of petty back biting (I put this down to your up-bringing) and pretty patterns with words, but no real substance, no depth........EG: How to dance in a seat!!.....IT seems your world of music revolves around "The romance of Flesh and Blood and Men who sing songs about getting drunk! You've really not got allot to go on have you??.......the first rule of any discussion board is know the subject matter! because if you get found out.........which you have been time and time again.......you end up looking a little silly and then taking your frustrations out on other people. After all lets not forget that music is an art form........and if you have no passion for it then I suggest you take up something more suitable to your talents........as previously mentioned something like "Medieval basket weaving" that should keep your fingers busy.If of course you continue to discuss please don't think that anyone who disagrees with you is a bully.........views on the new cd would be welcome. They are amazing, but then again, it is difficult to beat Lou Reed at the best of times. But on the whole, with other bands, I would say something is lacking if there is no drummer. I do like a good drum solo.
