Just listening to the new live CD, sounds pretty good so far (only halfway through CD 1). Drums very punchy in the mix, nice bottom end, well balanced. It does appear to be very compressed, but it's sounding quite vibrant to me. And who or what is Laminmoor? "I tend to think one can have fun without being inconsiderate to others." Exactly! Those who wish to dispel 'civility' should be sent back to their cell for they are clearly 'defective'! ;) Has no one here figured out 'how to dance while seated'? It works just fine, (and I ain't talkin' 'lap dancing' for the derelict among us). A few weeks ago my spouse and I hosted a small group of guests to a concert that featured two artists we wanted to see - Terry Clark and Alan Jackson - at Nissan Pavilion. We walked out on Alan Jackson after he completed only two songs! I love Alan Jackson!!! But I had no choice other than to concur with my companions that we should leave. Why? The crowd. Too many drunks, too many fights, too many people cheering on the females who threw punches, too many on their feet dancing and taking gross liberty with obscene language and gestures. In short, the ~ 20% of the crowd that chose to 'let their hair down and party' spoiled the event. Only wish I'd brought my sling-shot. But that would have made me as rude as 'the vile'. Just because you are at a 'concert', you have no right to act without 'civility'. So there! Trash responses will be laughed out of the system. KBP PS - Regarding the swimsuit beauties: Considering Ms Hall is about twenty five years older than Ms. Turner and was rated only one point lower than the junior femme, I'd say Jerry Hall is the one laughing all the way to the beach! ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 11 Jun 2003 16:08:56 +0100 From: "Duncan Watkins" Subject: [AVALON] Aarhus show Aarhus,Denmark a very civilised place to be on a sunny june afternoon. Lots of coffee houses and restaraunts with outside tables, great to sit, watch the world go by and while away a bit of time before the show. Lots of bikes as well, they were everywhere!-the best way to get about it would seem. Small venue, 800 capacity and sold out for around #50 a ticket! In view of recent discussions a strange thing happened when the doors opened, everybody rushed to.......sit down! at the tables around the edge of the main floor, within reach of the bars lining the walls of the place, in fact I have been in a lot of larger pubs! The main floor area was about a third of the area of a basketball court. Health and safety was very relaxed with people smoking and drinking throughout the show from glasses and bottles, with the stage edge/floor conveniently available for the empties! Show started bang on 8.00pm, no support-excellent idea! No harp either-I don't think there was room for it! Everybody on good form and enjoying it, bit of larking about between Chris and Mick, Julia very animated and really shaking it all about! Best audience reaction-JG what else! Best cheer for performance-Mick Green for LST-he really rocked it up. Bryan singing well, although forgot to say "great to be back in Denmark" until almost the end of the show! 9.30pm -"thanks for being such a great audience" Had a nice long chat with TGPT after the show, talking about many things, including the upcoming Roxy shows. No set list has been sorted yet, but due to tight rehearsal time, I don't think we are going to get too many surprises. Couple of 1sts, for me anyway; 1st time I have been offered vitamin pills on a hotel breakfast menu and 1st time I have been asked why I have a pair of used drumsticks in my carry-on luggage! Regards, Duncan. _________________________________________________________________ Tired of 56k? Suggs and his > cohorts I danced with a man who danced with a girl who danced with the Prince of Wales.. This isn't the place to defend the Morrissey faithful but just for the record........these are a few of the people who are confirmed Morrissey faithful........JK Rowling, Bono, Kathy Burke, Nancy Sinartra, Alan Bennet,Chrissie Hind, NOT exactly a bunch of thugs this lot..........Oh and David Bowie was also a Morrissey fan.Quote from David in '92 "I think he is one of the best lyricists in England, and an excellent song writer"....Praise indeed, and lets not forget David does have a tendency to fall out with most people........EG Lou Reed, Mick Ronson, Reeves Gabrels, Eno........ETC ETC. I'm not knocking David..... everyone on this list knows I am a huge Bowie fan but I don't live in the "Kings new clothes" view of everything Bowie. I know from your previous posts that you are a Bowie fan, and now I know you like or used to like Morrissey........did you really expect that working relationship to last???" As for Madness.......I wouldn't cross the street to watch them.........but from what I have been told I don't think their gigs are "Take your seats please" shows.I grew up with both Jonny and Stephen and you could not meet more peace loving people.I doubt very much could say that for some of the Madness crew!!! When I went to see Echo and the Bunny men at the Albert Hall.........I didn't have a seat, last night of the proms.......they don't all have seats...Lots of concert tickets for the for the Hall are sold standing only...........or am I just being an ignorant northerner?? I do find your view of concert life almost "Tabloid Press" in its execution........I "wager" I have been to more gigs than most either watching or playing.......and not once have I come across the absolute anarchy you and " The hostess with the mostest" have described. Why do you think standing for a gig suddenly turns everyone into drunken thugs? I don't drink ( and never have)but I always stand. Did you sit or stand for the Hammersmith Bowie gig???? if so .....did it turn you into a drunken thug?? ANY WAY........back to my original point.........The Roxy audiences were the worst I have experienced........is this where we started??? ..Oh and I Think everyone should buy the new live CD..........shall we leave it at that? I think we might have to tailgate it, considering the venue. Much to my disappointment, I will only be at the beach event (rain or shine). Can't make the Radio City one this time. C'est la vie. But this will happen tomorrow, Friday, at 22.20-22.30 at the same time as I'll be dancing to Wooly Bully in Langesund, Norway! ...I hope! There will be no chairs and tables in the garden of Wrightegaarden on Friday night and there use to be room for 1200. Now in this little town of 4000 inhabitants they expect 2000 people to come to see Bryan. They have sold 'lots of tickets', they told me.
