No gimmicks just good guitar playing plus he has one heck of a band. Still good after all these years'" Really It's Astonishing! Santana still plays fast, clean, and intricate long passages. In my own way I think Santana is far technically superior in guitar ability when I compare his current performance to the sloppy performance that Mr. Manzanera gave at the Merryweather, DC Roxy Reunion show July, 2001. (Please don't sling the rocks too hard - I'm only expressing a point of view based on less than extensive musical training. Hey, so what do I know anyway?! - I'm not a musician;) Best wishes. Peter Gabriel Is anyone going to the PG concerts in Birmingham or London later this week? I was at the Manchester gig last night and I have to say that it was one of the greatest shows, if not the best, I have ever seen, absolutely awesome! Too many highlights to mention, but if you are a fan of Gabriel's then DO NOT miss this show and witness a real genius at work. We may not be musicians, (unless zills or the dombec count) but we know what we like to listen to. It seems that the seating plans are not all the same, with 'more' seating for the Roxy show. From what I can make out Blocks A B C D E are front of stage, behind them it is anybody's guess!! I am sure there will be a VIP block so the real fans will be looking over their heads, until the stage rush, when they will have to throw down their salmon and cucumber sandwiches and stand to look over our heads, I look forward to seeing all of the usual folks at the front, Thanks to Steve Siren for securing my ticket! Now lets get the atlas out to find out where Portugal is, just to warm up Regards, Mark ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 May 2003 22:19:41 +0100 From: "Mark Stephens" Subject: [AVALON] Portugal Has anyone investigated, flights for Portugal from the U.K. Do you know what U.K. airports fly to Porto? I'm sure there will be many fanatics (nutters) paying hundreds of $'s and /or Pounds to go and watch this show (and the one in Portugal)! I'd rather pay the money and watch Celtic lose the UEFA Cup Final, another story. I'm sure "M" will be there with her ball gown on, family commitments permitting...... He is barely making the top 200 lately, although Frantic's best chart position was slightly better than As time goes by. He never parlayed his brief rise in the 80's and never achieved even one top 40 record. I think it is safe to say he has only a cult following here in the U.S. albeit a very loyal one. Commercially he has run out of time. Artistically the clock is still ticking. I'm curious if someone can post his UK figures for further discussion and to satisfy my curiousity. ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ End of avalon-digest V8 #139 **************************** ======================================================================== For further info, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: info avalon-digest
