What has this list missed? Why is Bowie worthy of three BBC America showings, but not Ferry/Roxy? Is Brian Eno the only guest that has been on Jools Holland's Later without performing? Are you looking forward to the new Roxy live album? Are you looking forward to the new Roxy live shows? Online, the seating plan is like hen's teeth. None of the main stockists have a plan, although Ticketmaster offer a plan that indicates where the standing tickets would be. As this is supposed to be a two-price seated concert, I looked on in vain... I managed to find out that the venue has an 18,000 capacity - there's NO WAY Roxy will sell 18,000 seats, is there? They didn't fill Wembley Arena on any one night (although they did play there three nights, but wasn't that the same 8-9,000 people going back night after night?) which is only made for 12,000 people. These events usually schedule a support slot - Simply Red have got the "Princess of Brazilian music" Bebel Gilberto, for example. Blue (who have sold out 9 nights at Wembley Arena) have still felt it necessary to add both Liberty X and Darius. Jools Holland is bringing Sam Brown, Suggs, Ruby Turner, Dr John, Eric Bibb AND Robert Plant for safety. WHO on earth will it take for Roxy to play to a full arena outdoors in an English summer? Anyway, for all you mosh pitters (you know who you are), it seems that you require Gold Circle tickets. These are NOT upstairs as in a theatre, but fall in a half circle in front of the stage. The cheaper (by a fiver) tickets are the tiered seating that forms a semi-circle behind the golden circle. These are the seats that will allow me and my daughter to see over the heads of the rich folk who pay the extra to sit (doubtless stand) on a flat floor in front of the stage because they believe that it's a fan's right to stand and obstruct the view of everyone behind them AND want to see the brand of the huge white pants worn by the centre stage star. So at least the mosh pitters will be charged extra and homely middle-aged (and accepting it gracefully) people like myself will save a tenner on the two tickets and get a better overall view... How do I know any of this for sure? Well, the 24-hour number promoted by the bryanferry and manzanera com sites isn't actually answering just now (5am). But I found an alternative number 0870 121 2521. Now I am not sure I am recommending the number as such. Listen in and you might see why (not). Me: Hello there, I can't find a seating plan of Hyde Park Route of Kings. Can you describe it? Them: What concert are you interested in? M: Roxy Music. T: It's not on sale until 9am, call back then. M: I know, but I want to know what the seating plan is like so I know which tickets to ask for when they do go on sale. T: Call back at 9am and we'll tell you. M: Won't the seating plan be the same for all of them? T: Yes. Bye. M: What's the seating plan like for Simply Red like? T: How many seats do you want? M: No, what's the seating plan like? T: You want me to tell you what's left? M: No, what are the seats laid out like? And so it went on.... Good luck getting seats where you want them if you're going. Wonder when they will announce the support slot and when tickets will be discounted to fill in the empty spaces? best wishes Richard Mills n/p Radio 2 - Best Time of the Day ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ End of avalon-digest V8 #138 **************************** ======================================================================== For further info, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: info avalon-digest
