From: KWil632057@aol.com Subject: [AVALON] Glastonbury Anyone? Yes please. At last some class at the hippy-ridden spectacular. Glastonbury doesn't really fit that cliched stereotype. Sure, you'll witness the depth and breadth of the human zoo there, and marvel at the incredible range and variety of combustable intoxicants and soya-derived comestibles available, but you'll see plenty of green wellies and Barbour jackets rubbing shoulders with the soap-dodgers and stoners I can assure you. There are plenty of Range Rovers in the car park with the VW Campers. Beanburgers know no social divide you know... My moneys on him getting pelted with mud within the space of thirty seconds.... I doubt that BF (tbc) would get the mud treatment. 'Mature' artists have been well received in recent years. Tom Jones, Johnny Cash, Al Green and astonishingly even the guy who's currently performing under the name of David Bowie all went down well, whilst last years best attended set was - reputedly - Rolf Harris...a festival regular! Either it's the kitsch factor or there's post-modernist irony lurking amongst the mud of deepest Somerset... Pilton used to be easy for me to attend - I live only 20 minutes or so away, and for many years the application of the HITF (Hole In The Fence) method always assured attendance - but these days the festival site is (literally) better defended than Baghdad, albeit the locals are often less welcoming. Michael Eavis was forced by the Plod and Mendip (my beloved local council who always spend my Council Tax so wisely.) to build an 19 foot high metal fence around Worthy Farm - no small feat for a site the size of a small town. And therein lies the problem for fans should BF visit God's own county (tbc) - - no ticket - no entry. All 112,500 tix for the festival (at #105, plus fees) were sold in four hours earlier this month, and are circulating for #250+ already. So again, like Baghdad, attendance (tbc) might well end up costing someone an arm and a leg... Oh, and don't take anything for granted about lineups. There are 'one or two' other rumours too... http://www.efestivals.co.uk/festivals/lineups.php?FestID=340 Chris PS The area around Glastonbury is sometimes known from Arthurian legend as the Isle of Avalon, so there would be a certain poigniancy about BF appearing there (tbc). _________________________________________________________________ Overloaded with spam?
