Hi, I have been obsessed with RM for the past oh, 7 or 8 years. Then, for some reason (think it had to do with our Exene thread), two weeks ago I said "hmmmm....I haven't listened to Nick Cave in a while and I used to be obsessed with him before Roxy Music" so I put him on and went on a total Nick Cave binge! He was all I could listen to. Then, I ordered a Gun Club CD from Amazon, checked out Anita Lane's album "Sex O'Clock" from the library, and suddenly was scrambling for as much old L.A. punk/psychobilly as I could find. And it sounded great. There was no stopping me. I also started wearing all black again even though I am a 33 year old mommy. L.A. punk is, after all, the music that I grew up with. RM was always "retro" for me. But tonight, in a quiet and reflective moment, I put on "Mother of Pearl," just to remind myself. And it was beautiful. Mother of Pearl had never sounded fresher and better than after my two week affair with punk. So now I'm torn between Bryan and Nick, but enjoying every minute of it. This is just a reminder to "cheat" on Roxy Music now and then. It'll rejuvenate your obsession!
