Why isn't this on FRANTIC? It's far better than half the covers on that flawed disc. Anybody heard or have a copy of the OTHER song Bryan did for this project? Inquiring minds want to know! The first one, I at the last minute flew over to Nottingham, to see the show. First, we hung out in a field with a big stone or cement obelisk that we were standing on. There were many Roxy fans, real and imagined, there. Many were speaking German. Then someone said, "It's time, he's out now!" It turned out, nobody went to the actual show, they instead gathered at this ice cream parlor (nice Tudor architecture) which thankfully also served beer. Then, this wizened, stooped old man with an angular face showed up. I said or thought, "That can't be Bryan!" but it was, and he was signing people's napkins (serviettes). The dream last night, he was doing a tour of smaller venues and world music shows, with a strictly folk setlist. (I had just bought his latest single, "The Derby Ram", b/w "A Jug of Punch." It was a 45.) He was coming to the chapel of Beloit College, not far from here, and I wanted (of course) to see him, but had difficulty arranging rides, so as I woke up I don't know whether I would have attended or not. Well, hope this wasn't too boring, just wanted to share... My earliest Roxy dream, I was consulting The Oracle, Alice Cooper, on the logic of my new love, Roxy Music. He indicated that "it followed." The next one was 3 March '76, my first night home upon return from seeing Roxy Music for the first time and fortuitously running into Bryan and the band at the airport in Memphis: Dream: I was riding my horse. I had been on this road before. We were galloping. There was a parallel path below me to the right. I wondered if perhaps that was the one I should be on. My road seemed to be getting higher, leaving more distance between the two. It seemed to be getting wilder and prettier. It seemed there might be something risky about the high road I was on, but I liked it up here, and we raced on. Right at the top, I remembered why I should have taken the other road. I saw the cliff, and we galloped off of it. I thought, "Well, there is no way to turn back now and not any chance of living through it." I closed my eyes and felt the sensation. We fell and fell, and it was very pleasant. I wasn't afraid at all. 27 December '76 Dream: I'm outside with Bryan Ferry and my father. There is an odd cloud. Part of it is only a few feet above the ground. I am tempted to go stand in it. The wind becomes fierce, and a storm is about to begin. We all run for the house, which is on the other side of a wall several hundred yards away. BF is ahead of us by far. I am struggling against the wind to reach the wall. Then we are safely inside. BF is ahead of us by far. I am struggling against the wind to reach the wall. Then we are safely inside. BF is remarking that he can hardly believe I caught up with him, I must have run very fast indeed to do so. He uses the number 13 in reference to either speed or distance I covered catching up to him. I say I recall getting to the wall and seeing him far ahead but the next thing I remember is reaching the house. I had lots of Bowie dreams as well. I dreamed his eyes were two different colors before I knew it consciously. And in one dream, he was standing nude, entwined by writhing snakes.
