I hear the laments of those who feel Bryan has nothing new to say. Maybe if Roxy re-established itself as the fabulous music entity it was, a burst of creative fervor would unleash within the group and there would be plenty to say. So I'm anxiously waiting and hopefully praying that my dream will come true. I'll keep visualize it happening and maybe it will.................. A few hundred concerts and a few thousand hours of headphones.... my hearing is shot. Ok - well as you play in a band i recommend them for rehearsal rooms and for on stage - youll find in rehearsal rooms it relly helps lose the screechy tone you tend to get cranking up due to the smallness of the rooms and as for concerts - Im a drummer and used to hate having monitors next to the drumkit as they really did my ears in until the earplugs came along and now the high pitchedness is muffled so i can hear everything 100% better and of course you cant turn a drum kit down so for me they are priceles! For concert visits - use your own judgement - try em if you dont like it take em out! For me the last roxy show i attended was not loud enough! Taking this into consideration,Bryan's performance was excellent. He really seemed to be enjoying himself,as did the rest of the band.I actually saw Chris Spedding smile a couple of times! I really enjoyed meeting up with Duncan,Diane,Mark,Steve,Sue and Katie,Mandy and Tracy,Chris and Izzie. Thanks for the restaurant recommendation Chris,I've been meaning to go to San Carlo for ages so I'll stop putting it off! A word to Duncan and Diane. Remember our chat about the Sex Pistols when I said that I 'd read they were originally going to call themselves 'The Strand'? Well it's in the Valentine CD booklet not 'The Thrill of it All'. Terrible memory! Hopefully Bryan will be well enough for Dundee and Aberdeen. Fingers crossed! I really like what you say about TV. It's like people woke up and started presenting themselves in shiny flashy costumes. They could also make their own videos in the late 70's. The emergence of the whole "do it yourself TV media" thing may have had a lot to do with the emergence of really visually wierd subcultures (glam, new wave). Ironically, now we're all dressed in black, about as boring as you can get. I think that's becuase of our computer media. Who's got time or energy to dress up? Nobody really sees each other any more. I mean, in 70's or 80's if I wanted to meet Roxy Music fans, I'd have to dress a certain way and then go outside and hope people recognized that I was a RM fan by the way I dressed. Now I can throw on my jeans and sweatshirt or anything at all, and meet other Roxy Music fans. I know, they started as fashion. But to me, Roxy Music never seem like they were trying to be cynical or provocative. But then I wasn't listening to RM in '72 when I might have been "offended" by their "weird" noisiness. I came (shortly) *after* the wierdness of punk. > 4.
