Chris Spedding's Motorbikin' has already been used by BBC Radio 2 (and others) to mark the announced death this morning of 70s motorcyclist Barry Sheene. Guess this would help CS' Celebdaq rating no end if he were listed... BS may have broken every single bone in his body at one time or another and survived many a high-speed collision, but cancer got in the (premature) end, aged 52. There are way too many names to mention but special dispensation must go to Reecey for being the neurotic fool we all know and love and so made me look like Mrs Cool, John Dillon for coming all the way from Orlando (shame he's not from Memphis) and donating a late prize of a fabulous vinyl proof poster of Phil from the Roxy tour which Phil is signing to the winner. To the very generous Nigel Hollis for redonating the cut glasses he won (he was one of only two people who actually already have a set!!) for auction. To Jonathan for securing La Hall's signature and impressing her enough for her to scrawl "love". To the fab Dutch crew for their very generous and thoughtful presents. To Han for only winning one prize and therefore not inducing my raffle ticket indigestion. To the staff at Hotel Winston who were stars and made the evening go without a hitch. A very special thanks to Mr Bill MacCormick who has missed his vocation as a sadistic bingo caller. Thanks too to Phil Manzanera, TGPT and lovely Lucy Wilkins for all their help and support. And naturally a huge thanks to Remake Remodel, to Cor, Henk, John, Kees, Leslie and Ron for a storming set, highlights for me being Pyjamerama (which Roxy rehearsed for the last tour apparently but didn't perform), San Simeon, Another Time Another Place, All I Want Is You and of course Beauty Queen. You guys certainly walked out in style. Great seeing everyone again and new faces to fit the names. You all know who you are. Bizarrely the raffle turned up a number of multiple winners just like at AMA1. Step forward Ms's O'Donnell, Elliot and Mrs Fraser. You are all truly touched by the hand of a very talismatic leprechaun. And to Jimbo who won the Siren cover, all I can say is you lucky, lucky, lucky bastard!! Just remember what I threatened if it ever turns up on Ebay!! So thanks one and all for making it so much fun. If and when we do the next one, it'll be completely different so watch this space....in about 4 years time!! The guys from RM/RM were on top form (such a shame it was their last gig), set list was brilliant and the crowning joy .. no LITD or JG!!!! As for the raffle, the prizes were only surpassed by the master ticket reader himself, Mr Bill. Congratulations should go to Reecey and Jocelyn for organising a wonderful night .. now when is AMA3????? Great to see old and new faces there, I hope everyone got home safely and Ill see some of you again in Portsmouth and Brighton this week. T - --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Sometimes events like this which have been talked about for so long and anticipated so eagerly fail to live up to expectations. I am happy to say this was definitely not the case with A Mad Affair 2. It was everything I think we'd all hoped for and more. The Winston Hotel was....well....strange, Amsterdam was cold, wet and windy, and none of us got much sleep but it didn't matter. The company was the best, the beer was good, and far too plentiful, and the entertainment couldn't have been better. The video screening, was fascinating and a huge thank you has to go to TGPT, Phil Manzanera and Lucy Wilkins for their contributions. Some bloke in leather trousers was on it too but I'm not sure who he was. Remake/Remodel were fantastic and it was great to see them go out in such style. The raffle prizes were amazing and were drawn hilariously by Bill MacCormick and his sidekick Ms Fiske with Mr Reece trying to keep them in order. Mrs Mac somehow managed to appear interested and amused by the proceedings right to the end, when in reality she must have wondered what the hell she was doing there and who that bunch of lunatics were. A special mention to John Dillon for coming so far, those crazy Dutch people for being such fun and so welcoming and the staff of the Winston for putting up with us, but biggest thanks to the organizers who worked so hard for so long to arrange it all for us. I was so pleased for them that it was such a success. Can we do it again sometime please? Thankfully, my trip was combined with other purposes - I have to admit that the show was not worth the trip to the UK alone. AMA2 sounded fantastic.
