No, and reading between the lines of the Evening Standard interview it appears that he has a lot of other things on his mind at the moment which would not be conducive to him writing or recording anything. I can imagine his solicitor calling him on his mobile every five minutes! I would guess that we won`t be seeing any new material from him for at least three years or so - well, new to us anyway. He does though seem to be really enjoying touring and the addiction he seems to have to the audience`s appreciation of him. If only he would "freshen up" the set list somewhat - but that also requires his attention I suppose. Regards to all. See you at AMA2. I agree , he seems to be enjoying performing too much to concentrate on that. At Folkestone he was as relaxed as I've seen him on stage, smiling away. I wonder if it's an escape for him. Plenty of stuff in the can though and as some fans have pointed out it's at least as good as things being released. You Can Dance (someone in the Ferry camp should consider the potential of that one), Love War, Your Love Has Died spring to mind straight away. I would expect we'd get mixtures of that plus cover versions in future. It is such a pity that we can't have more Ferry/Eno compositions. Anyway on the bright side he came to my local town, and I have killed to see him ANYWHERE a few years back Rob > The one thing I have been looking for in all the recent Ferry interviews is > for him to mention that he will be going back to the studio to work on a new > album, but I haven't seen a sign of that yet. > > J.O'B. > > > ___________________________________________________________________________ > To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon > > > __________________________________________________________________________ Freeserve AnyTime - Go online whenever you want for just #6.99 a month for your first 3 months, that's HALF PRICE! There was a brief Bryan Ferry mention. It still annoys me that taking so long to get Bete Noire out, and then mixing himself into oblivion, cost him so much in profile and financial terms. There are those who feel this shouldn't matter, and artitistic integrity is all. Which would be fine if Bete Noire (or Mamouna for that matter) had turned out to be a ground breaking album of take your breath away brilliance. Not that it's bad or anything, but the mix is surely suspect. Seems to me that by constantly touring Ferry is almost trying to re-establish the ground he lost with Bete Noire and never recovered. He wouldn't tour Boys and Girls and if memory serves me correctly I saw Ferry in Glasgow Dec 1988 - over a year after Bete Noire had come out. If today was Friday tomorrow would be Saturday I know, but just imagine what could have been had Frantic followed the year after Boys and Girls. Followed by as Time Goes By and Horoscope. Final thing sorry to bang on - did anyone else notice that the rather negative London Evening Review interview which went on about suicide and Jerry Hall happened in the same Sanderson hotel on the same day as the positive "coolest living Englishman" article which appeared in the Telegraph ? These journalists should do some homework before interviewing him, and quit asking about tat that happened in 1978. I think it's quite funny to imagine someone he hasn't taken to being almost completely blanked ever so politely, especially when he does it by pretending he hasn't finished when they start to speak. > > __________________________________________________________________________ Freeserve AnyTime - Go online whenever you want for just #6.99 a month for your first 3 months, that's HALF PRICE! Since Ferry is so caught up with "personal stuff", y'know, why don't we avalonians help him out a bit and fill in for them? We could go on tour as "Avalon - a Roxy Music tribute". It's be kind of like "The Muppets meets The Full Monty." We women could dance, do backup vocals and play classical instruments, while the guys could sing and play guitar, drums and keyboard. Every week or so the guys could rotate who gets to be Ferry and wear "The Ferry suit". I mean, we know all the songs after hearing all our compilation remasters so many times, and we get along pretty well. We could open with "She Sells" and close with a half-hour art history slide discussion about Duchamp! Why not? We already have a website, and Ferry and the boys need a rest. Maybe one day they would evem let us open for them.....
