Guess my humor didn't translate - I was schticking some of 'Today's Lyric Interpreters' and some of their responders with a parody pertaining to the 'right vs. wrong' absurdity that underlies their argument. - Of course the spade is Fantasy or imagination. However, I'd like to point out that any defense of selling stolen material (in order to recoup the cost of obtaining that stolen material) has more to do with law than with 'moral superiority'. Furthermore, I suspect the cost of obtaining this material has been reaped many times over by the seller on Ebay. I dare say the vast majority of A-Listers would never dream of selling copies of A-Ville or Horoscope for profit. Would you? Why defend the practice? Yes, there's a sucker born each minute, and a fool is easily parted with his money, and Ebay will thrive because of such people. But that doesn't negate the fact that international law holds 'thieves' and 'profiteers' culpable. Myself being a jazz aficionado, I dig substance over glam (though to have both is best) and appreciate down to earth style. While Norah Jones isn't particuraly exciting as a performer, her music is fine and mellow, soothing and insightful. For someone so young and in the limelight, she is delightfully unaffected, adding to her charm. I find it refreshing her lack of "attitude" that so many performers her age have in cookie cutter overabundance. Personally, I'm sick and tired of artists who are all "that" and no talent. She is unique and true to herself. In November of 2002, I posted on Avalon about Norah Jones sensitive rendering of "More Than This." Actually one of the best Roxy covers I've heard. So while the argument is valid that she may not have deserved eight Grammy's, she is still good in my humble opinion. Maybe I'm learning, Karin ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 28 Feb 2003 19:17:07 -0000 From: "Martin Wilkinson" Subject: [AVALON] test ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 28 Feb 2003 20:14:19 -0000 From: "Routley" Subject: Re: [AVALON] : Alphaville in iraq? - -----Original Message----- From: kevin To: Avalon Date: 28 February 2003 20:09 Subject: [AVALON] : Alphaville in iraq? > just seen the news on sky that the u.n . inspectors have found a copy of alphaville in the hands of saddam . tony blair has been on the phone to france saying action must be taken soon before saddam boots it??????????????????? > > >___________________________________________________________________________ >To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 28 Feb 2003 19:12:49 -0600 (CST) From: MarlanaK@webtv.net (M.M.K.)
