My name dropped off the Avalon list early in 2002, during some technical troubles, so I just rejoined. I don't know if it's been covered but I thought I would share with the group my major Roxy moment for 2002 (besides the release of "Frantic," of course): In July I attended the John Wetton Fan Convention near Allentown, Pennsylvania (I can hear some wag saying, "What's next? An Ian McDonald Convention in Duluth, Minnesota?). It was actually quite fun, though, to sit around with Wetton (as well as Geoff Downes from Yes and Asia) and hear his stories about the various bands he'd been in, including, of course, Roxy. He clearly was displeased with the U.K. reunion recording effort with Eddie Jobson that fizzled in the late 90s.... On the other hand, his lifelong friendship with and warm regard for King Crimson's Robert Fripp was obvious. That night, the band's set included "In The Dead of Night" and "Rendezvous 602," as well as some King Crimson surprises. All in all, it was a great weekend. The organizer is going to do it again in 2004! www.johnwetton.co.uk Nice to be back and I look forward to completing my Manzanera and MacKay solo collections, largely uncharted territory for me, in the coming year! Spector, 62, was arrested at the home around 5 a.m., sheriff's Sgt. Joe Efflandt said. He was taken to the Alhambra Police Department. Records indicate he owned the home where he was arrested, but authorities did not immediately release details about the victim. Several witnesses were being questioned. ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon Avalonians on tour 2002: http://helios.unive.it/~tcecilia/meetup.html US ticket sale info: http://www.thewebgal.com/roxymusic/ (updated weekly) ------------------------------ End of avalon-digest V8 #33 *************************** ======================================================================== For further info, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: info avalon-digest
