I would have thought being in the front row, they could make the decision for themselves whether to stand and, just think, if they decided to remain seated, all the people behind them could do likewise, instead of being forced to stand if they wish to view. Hoary old chestnut, but still revolutionary thinking, it seems. All copies have been purchased and ceremonially burned by Ferry Corp lest the man himself catches sight of his "relaxed" midriff (my tip to avoid "body realisation" is to never look at yourself in a full length mirror unless you want 7 years bad luck). I think Mr F's excess body hair is restricted to his unruly eyebrows and of course the gift of middle age and beyond, nasal and ear hair. But Nigel shaving is so passi. Do you not know that the fashion du jour amongst our beautified males is currently the "back, crack and sack wax"? I kid you not. Ouch! According to staff at the venue, the County Durham-born star is thought never to have played the Town Hall. But, in a coup for the venue, he has been booked to play on March 25. He was last seen in the North-east fronting a Roxy Music reunion gig at Newcastle's Telewest Arena in 2001. Tickets cost #28.50, making it one of the most expensive shows the venue has staged. "We're absolutely thrilled Bryan Ferry is appearing at the Town Hall," said Pat Fysh, of the Town Hall. "It has generated a great deal of excitement with people and we're confident it will be a sell-out show. "When people have heard the ticket price they've been surprised, but still snapped up the tickets!" Bryan Ferry has been at the forefront of the music industry since Roxy Music burst into life in 1972. By 1982 the band had run its course and Ferry concentrated on solo efforts. Last year's album, Frantic, saw him collaborate with a diverse range of musicians, including Dave Stewart, of Eurythmics, and Jonny Greenwood, of Radiohead, as well as producing one song written with former Roxy Music cohort Brian Eno. Tickets are available from Middlesbrough Town Hall. So just a little update in JR's absence, for those of you in the throws of To Go Or Not To Go purgatory. We'll leave the big sell until we've all decided if we're doing anymore of the BF tour and get paid etc, but meanwhile I would like to point out that one AMA2 ticket costs #10 less than a London BF ticket and for that you get a longer set, more of the favourites you never thought you'd hear again in concert, the choice to stand or sit, access to the front of the stage and if you want to crawl a bit access backstage (isn't that how it works?!!), a bar til 3am, obscure vintage BF/Roxy video footage, and all your mates around you. Oh and a raffle. But not just any raffle. We have now decided on our top prize. And all I can say is if you are the lucky so-and-so who wins this one, it should go straight into the family bank vault. If it finds its way onto E-bay we'll know where it came from, but you will probably make back the cost of all your Bryan Ferry tickets plus some. It is truly a very special one off and a unique moment of Roxy history personified. But may I remind you that in order to be in the running for winning this gem (or any of the loads of other fab prizes) you have to be there on the night. No raffle tickets will be sold before the 8th March in Amsterdam. So as to not spoil the surprise for everyone I won't post what it is here. But for those of you child-like spirits who can't wait for Christmas to open your presents you can e-mail me off list if you simply have to know now! We'll also have news of unique merchandise selling on the night coming your way very soon. Watch this space. You just have to be there to be with "the incrowd", it wil be 'the spot where the beat is hot'. inmagine your grandchilderen asking: grandpa/ma why didn't you go to AMA2? What you gonna say? Uhh... You have one your smiling, lucky devil! But AMA2, a major event for Roxy/Ferry fans is happening right now, and you know its happening now, wait and it's over. There be Ferrygig's and hollyday's later. I think AMA2 is a verry unique event as was AMA1, if you wasn't there you've missed it. I think that anyone at the AMA1 agree with me on that.
