G'day - Happy New Year to all Avalonians from your mates in Australia! A couple of days back, there was a very short article in Melbourne's 'Herald-Sun' newspaper entitled "Ferry stays in with Fred". Text as follows: 'Roxy Music crooner Bryan Ferry said he stayed home on New Year's Eve. Instead of a night on the town, the stylish old rocker said he watched old Fred Astaire musicals on television. "I go to bed about 11 o'clock just to spite everybody," he said.' This (ahem) article was accompanied by perhaps the most unflattering picture I have ever seen of Bryan.....when there are so many good photos available of him, it defies explanation why they would use the photo they did. Must have been a particularly slow news day..... Cheers all, Scotty Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. Hello all, Happy New Year ! Both myself and Jocelyn have received quite a few emails in recent times, regarding the possibility of another party being arranged for Roxy/Ferry fans, as a follow up to the very successful, and highly enjoyable 'A Mad Affair' which took place in London, in February 2001. I'm happy to tell you that the official announcement for 'Mad Affair 2' is imminent. Keep an eye on those Inboxes in the next 24 hours... Reecey... Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. I've joined the mailing list yesterday--I'm a Bryan Ferry/Roxy fan from Germany. Being new on the list doesn't mean that I'm a "new fan"!! I've seen my first Roxy concert way back in 1973 and I've gone to Roxy or Bryan concerts ever since that year. Now I'd like to comment on Christian's question--what was the best tour...ATGB,Roxy or Frantic? Well, actually I like all three of them and so it's difficult to decide. ATGB was super because I liked the album very much and ---seeing Bryan on stage again after so many years! The Roxy tour was fabulous, I couldn't believe they were together again and I thought the concerts were the best I'd ever seen. But ---I was lucky to see one Frantic concert of the first leg of the tour and then I saw nine more shows in autumn, so I think if you add the first and the second leg, the Frantic tour was the best of all!!! I especially liked the beginning of the Frantic concerts (autumn) with the "quiet" versions of the songs and only a few musicians on stage. So you could enjoy Bryan's strong voice... But I also liked the rock songs, TTOIA and Cruel, and Fool For Love and My Only Love impressed me so much! Of course, Boys And Girls and Limbo were fabulous...but also Slave To Love was done perfectly! My last two concerts were in Newcastle and after that I would have been happy to see 10 more shows...But I think you know what I mean!!! It's nice to write about my favourite subject and I'm going to do so very often!
