Looking back on the last few years, we have had three tours from either Ferry or Roxy, something that seemed quite unlikely when we consider his dislike of touring in the past. I'd like to read some of your opinions on which tour stood out the most for you - the ATGB tour, the Roxy or the Frantic tour. Personally, I'd say: The ATGB tour had excellent setlists (Sunset, SGIYE, TOF etc.), the band sounding excellent on the ATGB material and quieter numbers, some of them rearranged in most interesting ways, and, well, sounding rather different to a rock band on the more rock-oriented material. The Roxy tour featured Manzanera, Mackay and TGPT and had the unique, distinct sound, which no other band could ever create. The setlist was rather the 'standard version', though with the inclusion of Tara and FYP, we had a few surprises. The Frantic tour contained lots of unexpected stuff in the setlists, plus (apart from the earlier stages) a nice concept, building from solo piano & vox to an ensemble sound. Spedding and Green complemented each other almost perfectly, and Ferry's voice was the strongest I heard in years. The version of Boys & Girls was probably one of the best things I ever heard in a Ferry concert. What has to be stressed is that Ferry has come up with three tours in as many years which had a high standard. I tend to regard the latest tour the highest, but what about you? Yes, you! I too am curious what people think so I hope Christian's question gets a lot of responses. Here's mine. I'm the newbie who has only seen the Frantic tour in person, but I just finished devouring the Roxy and ATGB DVD's since we got a DVD player for X-mas. So all three are fresh in my mind. My opinion... all three are awesome for what they are. Can not say that one is better than the other. ATGB has a great setlist and it's wonderfull to see Bry in that classic mode. A little chubby in the cheeks but a happy man. The Roxy DVD I finished just moments ago. Bry is a little thinner, looks good and even happier. Great setlist. I'm greatfull for this reunion and sad that I missed it in person, litterally by days if you know my story. On both DVD's Out of the Blue gives me goosebumps at it's ending violin solo. I'd love to see Jobson do it on a future Roxy re-reunion or on Bry's next solo tour. Let us pray. Frantic was just magical. It combined elements of classic lounge (the beginning) to classic Roxy (the end) with Bryan at his best thrown in throughout. I've read the setlists of various tours on the Viva website and I'm glad that my first concert had a setlist like it did. I know there was a lot of wishing for this and that but it's all good. And I know that veteran fans who go way back probably have radically different opinions than mine. But... This music is both magical and emotional as is music of bands like Yes and Genesis. One of the emotional aspects for me is in looking at the musicians faces. For example at the end of a song when the camera is on Bryan and he's smiling with such happiness, and I'm happy to be watching this awesome performance, and then I think, these guys are all getting older and there's always that chance that for whatever reason, this might be the last time that you ever see this. It's sad. You wish that your favorite artists will be able to perform forever, but you know at some point it will end, and that's sad. So now is! not the time to bicker over what Bryan or anyone else for that matter does or should be doing. Let's all grasp what we can, take it in and enjoy all that's available and what's given to us by the great Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music. Long live Ferry/Roxy................ Mike "Christian H.
