I'm going to look into getting a good version copied for me, but in the meantime I thought a class-action suit might do the trick in getting some justice. However instead of money, I would be willing to settle for Mr. Ferry giving a free concert at some place out in the boonies he's never been before, a "New Town" in North America where the locals could be exposed to some real British culture for a change. It should be someplace in the middle taking into account the US and Canadian borders so that as many affected Americans and Canadians as possible could drive down or wing it if there was even an airport at this place. Any suggestions? Ironically, I got into Roxy through a very back door route...through Eno. I liked Eno, first through his work with Bowie and then on his own. This was 1977. I had only heard two Roxy songs, which I didn't like then and still don't like: Love is the Drug and If It Takes All Night. Knowing that a couple of their albums had Eno on them, I very gingerly borrowed the first Roxy album from a friend in the summer of 1978. Holiday Invite Twas a month before Xmas & Karin was bored To the sound of TV commercial jingles she snored Her home was all cozy with elegant flair And Nation was barely aware she was there On the sofa she snuggled quite comfy & warm As dreams of good music & martini's did form Great friends & food, a fabulous party galore Dancing, good spirits, the "famous eggnog" & more When all of a sudden she arose from her vision And realized she needed to make a decision "A Holiday Open House would be quite right," "Saturday, December 14th will be just the night!" Beginning at 7:oo p.m. the tree shall be lit And maybe an hour or so later, we will, a bit She laughed at herself and at a sight, oh so merry With fireside cocktails we'll swoon toBryan Ferry I'll ask everyone to bring his or her favorite treat While I'll serve good wine & eggnog tasty & sweet Along w/some special hors d'oeuvres for my guests We'll while away the happy hours with no regrets Telling tales of Christmas with extra good cheer Wishing one another glad tidings in the New Year And I know I'll exclaim by the soft candlelight "Merry Xmas To All & God's Blessings Tonight!" With Love, Karin Whitney ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon Avalonians on tour 2002: http://helios.unive.it/~tcecilia/meetup.html US ticket sale info: http://www.thewebgal.com/roxymusic/ (updated weekly) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 Dec 2002 19:04 +0000 From: atoman@uku.co.uk Subject: [AVALON] ferry on jools what songs has Ferry played live on later? anyone? ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon Avalonians on tour 2002: http://helios.unive.it/~tcecilia/meetup.html US ticket sale info: http://www.thewebgal.com/roxymusic/ (updated weekly) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 Dec 2002 19:38:34 -0000 From: " Andy" Subject: [AVALON] Bryan spotted with wife and kids Tuesday 17th December 2003, 21H00 Cinnamon Club, Old Westminster Library, London Having dinner with Lucy and two oldest boys. You deserve a lot more credit and thank yous than you have received. I for one think the list should stick to Roxy Music, Bryan Ferry issues and I understand sometimes we venture off-topic-we're only human!-but hey, to those members who are dissatisfied with the list or not happy with the way Colleen has kept and continues to keep the list alive, then please leave the list. I would like to wish all of you a healthy and prosperous holiday season. This song does seem to pop up as the most popular version that "other" artists record. Given her recent popularity it should be a boost to B.F. Greetings all, here's a thought..... MTT seems to be a song that some have heard enough and others love it to death. And sadly those of us who love it will probably never hear it live because it's hard for Bry to do. I've heard people talk about the songs vocal as being "layered" on the album. So why doesn't he sing it in concert as a duet with one of these lovely voiced young ladys? He can deliver his lower register accompanied by a female for the higher end and I bet it would sound great. Looking forward to more American appearances soon.
