But to be honest about it, there are quit a few classical songs from equaly classical albums in your list. Considered today as essential songs/albums. Siren wasn't essential, LITD was!! The feel, hooks, and overall atmosphere of Love Is The Drug was so briliantly decadent, sugesting everything you could make up yourself. Was it Sex or love was it Drug's or Rock and Roll. It was all. I could write on about the essential songs from your list, but give it a thought and you will see there are so mutch classicals on that list, witch all stand out in their own way, surely at the time. btw I noticed that The George Baker Selection is on that list with Una Paloma Blanca, did you know that UPB is a classic (sic) all over the world. Thanks for posting the list!! see ya, cor blimey! >Especially when you consider the horrors that made up the top 5 at the >time. >Siren was indeed divine intervention. But, Bryan claimed the composer's credit. If you listen to the canned heat song (also a cover)and still believe that Bryan wrote the song, your either plain stupid and can't tell one song from the other, or you give your idol to mutch credit. If Bryan claimed the song as his own writing, he's lying. Of course he could have bought the song from CH. On my copy of The best of Canned heat-Let's work together, the writer is named Harrison (not george but an american bleusartist)copyright by Liberty records a division of Capitol records. publiced in 1970!! The tune is EXACTLY the same, Lyric's changed. He'd just made up lyrics over an existed (old)song. So...composer credit:rubisch, lyrics credit:uh...well...okay then! with benefit of doubt. When you >really think about it, it couldn't have been a cover of "Let's Work >Together" anyway. Bryan always looked far too tired to even think about >work. That's probably why he mention "stick" I've heard he did a WHOLE lot of drug's at the time,(and worked his ass off, that's why he'd look so tired.) Did I miss something? Has my record/CD collection been incomplete for the last 20 years? Next, Mr Smith will be telling us there's really 21 Bond movies. Oh well - good coverage all the same. The writer has probably used a few of Bryan's releases to get into a few young ladies underwear in his time, judging from the effusive praise. BTW - Anyone got an MP3 (or the like) of the Divinyls or Tony Hadley covers?
