This time, he takes yet another sentimental journey back to those nerve-janglingly romantic days of the '60s via two Bob Dylan covers on his recent album, Frantic. As sumptuously arranged and eminently listenable as "Avalon," which producer Rhett Davies also worked on, Ferry wraps his velvety vibrato around Leadbelly's "Goodnight Irene," Don Nix's "Goin' Down" and originals such as "Cruel," co-written with Dave Stewart. Re-creating the era on Frantic are former Roxy mastermind Brian Eno, Chris Spedding and Roxy drummer Paul Thompson. ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon Avalonians on tour 2002: http://helios.unive.it/~tcecilia/meetup.html US ticket sale info: http://www.thewebgal.com/roxymusic/ (updated weekly) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 02 Nov 2002 09:55:22 -0800 From: thenewguy@boootlegs.com Subject: Re: [AVALON] CD trees I thought you offered these for treeing/trade. I'll start putting out the results soon, probably starting with the Eno/Manza/Mackay catagories as that part wasn't that well supported. In the Roxy section it looks like the long term leader will win, however until I count all the votes I'm not to sure myself who'll win the Ferry part. As for some of the tracks that you say are awful,I'm shocked! but its your choice. A question for you to think about while I'm counting:- Only one track from Roxy's first five albums failed to register a single vote, what was it? Would I do it all again?
