Thanks for not taking my remarks personal, I read your post with interest and was just giving an opposing view, My remarks were not aimed at you, We are simply debating musical topics.....I already stated that Gabriel is popular a couple of my mates are really keen on him. And if you like his material that's great. That's the beauty of music so many differing views and I for one am always pleased to hear other peoples opinions.......responding is an integral part of a list such as this.......but they are not meant to be taken personally. all this "My dad is bigger than yours" is taking the whole thing out of context. You are right about the way I feel about Frantic, I have gone on record as saying I think it's Ferry's Finest Solo work to date. With Frantic I feel Ferry has achieved everything he could do in an album.Great new songs together with fantastic covers, I feel it has a brilliant eclectic mix, that places it on my all time top 30 albums by any artist........I am also a fan of In Your Mind which as long been a favourite of mine and would also enter my personal top 30. That just goes to show how different we are.......Nothing wrong in that. I know where your coming from with Manifesto.....but without Manifesto I would never have got a chance to see Roxy in 79, That was a concert I will never forget, the atmosphere, the anticipation of the audience, it was pure magic, sure as an album its not that good, but sometimes music is also about memories and everytime I hear a track from manifesto it takes me back to happy times...so for these reasons it will always hold a special place with me. That's another magical thing about music, the way it can transport you to the good times. Basel was a nice friendly place, fantastic tram system, the weather was great, but wow was it expensive!! We arrived friday evening and on the Saturday after checking out where the gig was to be held, we set about exploring the town.Having been lucky enough to chat to the band after the Paris concert, I decided that it would be better to give the band some space and not hang around anywhere they might be. This proved difficult; as we got off the tram we were on, in the centre of town, I saw Chris Spedding walking along, a short while later we went for a coffee; Lucy,Julia and Colin had the same idea. Asked Lucy if there was anything new in the show she gave me a funny smile and said "wait and see". After the coffee we headed up the road and met Bryan! out for a stroll, quick "Hello" and we left the area. Nice hotel but we hit a problem when I asked to borrow an iron and was told that the hotel (4 star) did not have one "for security reasons" Oh dear! so we settled on a 'designer crumpled'look for the show. Arriving at the theatre was strange;no posters, no flyers, nothing anywhere that mentioned it was happening!Even more strange was a large sign on the door 'Warning: this show contains loud music and we suggest you wear the ear-plugs provided'!! Sure enough we were given ear-plugs as we entered. The theatre was about 7/8 full which meant we could shuffle seats and get a great view!(Hopefully pics will appear on JOB's site eventually) The audience were fairly subdued and only got going towards the end when most of the right hand side got up and danced and most of the left stayed seated throughout. We were on the left and after dragging my wife forward we danced and clapped in true avalonian tradition. Almost forgot! 'Just Like You' was played in the first 'acoustic' section, I was so surprised that I did not register who was playing what, but it was basically mostly vocal with minimal playing. It's one of my favourites and was great to hear-especially when not expecting it!The rest of the show was as Paris except that 'Hiroshima' one of the best tracks from that show was dropped. After the show spoke to TGPT and Ian Dixon-he is a very funny guy. On the sunday at the airport turned a corner and there was Bryan busy texting on his mobile! It was that kind of trip.Roll on Ipswich!
