I'm from Belgium ( I speak dutch) I'm only 20 years old. You could say that (compared to my peers) I'm quite a music freak. But luckily I'm not into Britney Spears and stuff like that. I'm a huge fan of Elton John. And recently I discovered Roxy Music and Bryan Ferry. I got almost all the bryan ferry records. (not all the roxy ones) Last wednesday I went to my first Bryan Ferry concert in Antwerp and it was amazing!! I don't know a lot about roxy music and bryan ferry as you guys do. But I'm learning. I also have a few questions and I hope you can help me. 1) I a record store I saw a record roxy music live from 1979, it's blue. And I looked it up on the internet and they say it's from the manifesto tour, is this an official release?? 2) I buy loads of records. (got more then 250now) I also love bootlegs but they're so hard to find. Recently I bought the 'roxy music live at the apollo ' dvd. I really love that DVD. And I would really like to have the bootleg from this concert. I'm willing to trade (I copy mine you copy yours) with something I got, but that's not much. If somebody has it, and is not interested in anything I have, I would pay for it too. But I know most of you don't like this. so this is what I got: - -sting: brand new day tour (2cd) - -elton john live in worcester 84 (no cover) - -elton john live in barcelona 92 (no cover) - -U2 blessing in the night (elevation tour) (2cd) - -rem live in rio 2001 - -robbie williams swing when you're winning live at the royal albert hall. - -Robbie williams , the enterainer, live bbc 2001 - -roxy music live at glasgow 2001 - -elton john, best of djm and nick drake demos 68 (not live but unreleased) - -george michael unplugged (mtv) + bonus tracks (such as don't let the sun go down on me with ej) - -elton john live at madison square garden vol 1 and vol 2. both are from the official fan club, which I'm a member of. You can't buy the cd's you only get them when you're a member. (october 15 and 16 1999) - - I also have bryan ferry live in paris, but I downloaded it from the internet and had to split the tracks. no cover. So please if any of you are interested in something....PLEASE let me know!!! I would be very thankfull. If anyone has a bootleg from the belgian concerts (brussels or antwerp) I would be interested too. Don't remember who the opener was in Canada on the Bete Noir tour (can't have been my cuppa, or I'd have left the Hostility Suite), but I know there was one. Mamouna - the opener was so bad I left the building with a friend. It was with great trepidation I arrived "on time" for the ATGB tour, and what a good idea that was, or I'd have missed half the evening. Roxy last year? I can't stand that Rufus fella, and I work with someone who insists he's some sort of musical genius and is always playing Poses. AAAAAARRRRGGGHHHHH!!!! And I seem to remember having drinks with new friends was far more important than checking the opener at Hammersmith last year. But YES - Roxy have had opening acts, for sure! The CD you are talking about CONCERTO is the same Denver performance as the Concert Classics disc, with the addition of Mother of Pearl and Editions of You, from the Oakland show. The makers of this disc said they wanted to make a good release of this material. However they manage to split the CDs at the ONLY spot in the performance where two songs Segue from one to another. (Between Stronger Thru the Years and Ladytron) And even though the artwork looks great at first glance, the Purple type on the black & blue background is often illegible. Hold out for the Concert Classics CD The road to Hell is paved with good intentions. A special spot in hell awaits the screw-ups who botched what could have been a fine package. Hello & welcome. Abandon hope all ye who enter here. Now he is here again: On his own and with the new CD " Frantic ". He wants to convince the public with new songs and Roxy Classics on Tuesday in the Tempodrom. His suit fits perfectly, well, he has to defend the image as the bbest-dressedb pop star. His voice still has this fragile sensual touch. BZ interviewed Bryan Ferry: If you compare the old Roxy days with today - which are the musically more exciting times? The early 70's, unfortunately. Nowadays, too much is produced boff the pegb, by people with too much money. Millions go into videos. Good music can stand on its own feet! Your style is honoured at least as much as your music. Is it really such a long procedure until you select the right suit? No. It is a thousand times more difficult for a woman. Additionally, better fashion for gentlemen is produced nowadays. You donbt have to have any designs made up especially. Who is- apart from you - the best-dressed pop star, and whobs the worst? David Bowie has always retained style! Ozzy Osbourne is reliably the strongest candidate on the other side of the scale! (laughs) Ibve seen him yesterday in " The Osbournes " on MTV. Could you also imagine to be continually filmed? No, I keep my private life under wraps. Otherwise you would go crazy, if for example things were written about you that ridicule you. This has been difficult lately: You separated from your wife after a twenty year marriage, a 21 year old background singer is your new girlfriend. Do you feel haunted, in particular by the English media? Yes, there are only a few gentlemen amongst them. I think itbs sad. Webre living in a changed world. Ibve got a request: no questions regarding my private life! What comes first into your head when you think of Berlin? Kurt Weill, the 30's - that was exciting! The Berlin culture has always had a special Sharpness and fierceness. At the moment it also appears to be very exciting: the restoration of roads and buildings in the Eastern part. A city of full of inspirations. Why donbt you move to Berlin then? Like David Bowie, who wrote his best songs here. If I should move, Berlin would surely be one of the top places on my list. ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon Avalonians on tour 2002: http://helios.unive.it/~tcecilia/meetup.html US ticket sale info: http://www.thewebgal.com/roxymusic/ (updated weekly) ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 15 Sep 2002 22:04:28 -0700 (PDT) From: Mike Billmann Subject: [AVALON] what should I buy?
