Let's say you were someone closely associated with BF, and realised that a) Ticket sales needed to be boosted, and b) "Frantic" sales needed a similar boost. What would be the most cost effective way to grab an enormous amount of publicity at reasonable cost ? There is a "P.R. Guru" ( - known as Max Clifford, I believe ). For #15,000 or so, he "arranges" leaks of information to the copy-hungry press. BF suddenly finds himself with Ms. Turner on the front page of what I believe to be (unfortunately) the best selling tabloid in Britain. If you look closely, at no stage is there any kind of physical contact in the photographs they have used. (O.K., I didn't expect them to use bedroom shots). Maybe there is truth in it, maybe there isn't. Either way, this should provide a great return in terms of album/ticket sales for a relatively small investment - and why not !!!???!!! Dave. Do you think the cost this has extracted from his wife, their families and friends, and most importantly, their children, is so small that this is something one could possibly imagine that he has faked for publicity? Removing your prejudice, whether or not the story was deliberately leaked or not really does not matter, it is FANTASTIC publicity. It is sad that anyone gets divorced but I am unclear about what all the supposed "shame" is about. Firstly it is based on the fact that one assumes it is wrong to have a 21 year old lover, seems fine to me. Also as a child of divorced parents I can vouch that everything coming into the open is a good thing, they have all known things were wrong for ages. Lucy and Bryan will both ultimately be much happier and as a result better parents, albeit independently; Lucy is free to be the injured party, if that is the case, and to move on with her life. Bryan can stop having to deceive, if he has been, and enjoy his new relationship. Colleen's view is from the typical female perspective - "the cost this has extracted from his wife" indeed! Andy, you have not only misunderstood what I wrote but you have taken it out of context to boot. If it were fake and done just for publicity it would be obvious that Mr. Ferry would have signed off on it, no?; hence my comments about everyone else involved. In addition, as I have been pretty clear about my refusal to discuss whose "fault" it is in any way, it would be uncharacteristic of me to suddenly start taking one party's part over another. HOW COULD I FORGET? I used to LOVE the Union Gap, moth-eaten Civil War uniforms on the Ed Sullivan Show, and all. Every word out of Gary Puckett's mouth was an aural violation of the Mann Act. ("transportation of a minor across State lines for illicit purposes", for you non -Yanks out there) Young Girl, This Girl is a Woman Now, even Lady Willpower suggested intergenerational nookie. Seen from this remove, they seem a bit old fashioned and patronizing almost misogynistic, even for the late 60's. The "girls" in the songs aren't viable entities till a MAN has initiated them into the meaning of life. or an underaged temptress who could cause Mr. Pucket to spend 7 to 10 in the slammer , if he hadn't wised up in time. Regards, R Deagle This Girl Is A Woman Now (V. Millrose/A. Bernstein) This girl walked in dreams, playing in a world of her own This girl was a child existing in a playground of stone Then one night her world was changed Her life & dreams were rearranged & she would never be the same again CHORUS: This girl is a woman now; she's learned how to give This girl is a woman now; she's found out what it's all about & she's learning, learning to live This girl tasted love as tender as the gentle dawn She cried a single tear, a teardrop that was sweet & warm Our hearts told us we were right & on that sweet & velvet night The child had died; a woman had been born (repeat chorus & fade) YOUNG GIRL Young girl, get out of my mind My love for you is way out of line Better run, girl, You're much too young, girl With all the charms of a woman You've kept the secret of your youth You led me to believe You're old enough To give me Love And now it hurts to know the truth, Oh, Beneath your perfume and make-up You're just a baby in disguise And though you know That it is wrong to be Alone with me That come on look is in your eyes, Oh, So hurry home to your mama I'm sure she wonders where you are Get out of here Before I have the time To change my mind 'Cause I'm afraid we'll go too far, Oh, Young girl Lady Willpower Gary Puckett and The Union Gap Lady Willpower, it's now or never. Give your love to me and I'll shower Your heart with tenderness endlessly. I know you want to see me but you're afraid Of what I might have on my mind. One thing you can be sure of I'll take good care of your love If you will let me give you mine. Lady Willpower, it's now or never. Give your love to me and I'll shower Your heart with tenderness endlessly. Did no one ever tell you the facts of life? Well there's so much you have to learn. And I would gladly teach you if I could only reach you And get your lovin' in return. Lady Willpower, it's now or never. Give your love to me and I'll shower Your heart with tenderness endlessly. Anyone know how old he was when he pinned those songs? For all we know, he could have wrote them when he was 17 and not got them on vinyl until years later. Too good to be true, I'm sure. He certainly was consistent in his subject matter.... Completely OT and quite possibly drivel > Now if they'd just add JNHP/Fool for Love -- and I cannot imagine why they haven't. Could be because in it's live form JNHP sounded like something from a primary school concert and Fool for Love drones on with a fair amount of mediocre guitar soloing. As for My Only love, Both Ends Burning and Tara these should have been left with the Roxy tour of last year. For me the set is improving, but still doesn't seem to have a good balance, a bit like the band. You have GOT to be kidding! We`re talking about a man suddenly single after 20 years of marraige who finds himself out with a beautiful young woman here. This has nothing to do relationships or intelligent conversations. It`s all about flirting and new romance. It`s all about the thrill of the chase and being the center of a beautiful young woman`s attention and once again seeing life through the eyes of youth. It`s exhilarating and intoxicating as any opiate. What could they be talking about in those pix? Dim the lights, you can guess the rest..... > NP: Charlotte Church/"He's a Rebel" Now there`s a consideration for Ferry. Not only is she young and pretty but quite capable of hitting the high notes in Avalon, not to mention Ja Nun Hons Pris.
