I could understand him possibly being a bit uncertain which way to proceed, afraid that, especially in writing, he might take the wrong path. He already has more of a dichotomy in his fans than any other artist I can think of. The way he chooses setlists, trying to get something in there for everyone, may reflect an even bigger conflict in writing. Let's face it, he's been at it for long enough to be able to tailor songs to suit. But what I think most of us want is for him to tap into his soul and just let us see what's there, whatever it is. I think he's still so unique and such an innovator that he should, as I said previously, trust his instincts that whatever he turns out will likely be better than most everything else that's out there. I'm sure he has a glimmer of a vision "just out of reach glowing very Holy Grail" that he's not sure whether he can or should act on. I think he should just try to put himself out there all the way, hold a seance over his artistic proclivities and know that they're revolutionarily genuine, and then step away from the curb and reach sideways a little into the unknown. Joel Hurd: >But of course my dream, a foolish one, is a new Roxy product. It's hardly worth mentioning seriously, given its extreme unlikelyhood. :-(< Maybe not so unlikely. I just came back from vacation in Europe. While I was traveling in a car with a friend between Saint Avold and Metz in France last week, Oh Yeah came on the radio. While this was had not been one of my favorite Roxy tracks, the song all of a sudden grabbed my attention. It was the perfect song track for the drive on that sunny day in the beautiful French countryside. I have no idea what station was playing it, but it was a pleasure to hear it in that context. My friend and I were both singing the song. I thought about the list and made a comment that I would make a mention of this when I got home. The same thing happened a week earlier in Rotterdam. I was traveling in a cab when all of a sudden Angel Eyes(the "disco" version) came on the radio followed by Avalon. I mentioned Roxy Music and Bryan Ferry to the cab driver and he smiled a knowing smile back at me. What station was smart enough to do this? I have no clue as it was in Dutch and my Dutch is about as good as my French. Which is say non-existent. Two Roxy Music tracks back to back. Way cool. The sun was shinning and I was happy to be in Rotterdam. The next day it rained all day. Rotterdam was casting a long lonely shadow. Speaking of which......... I NOW know that NOTRE DAME casts a long lonely shadow by the Seine. Although on the day I was there it was raining and no shadow was in sight. As many of you know, when I first heard Song for Europe I remember hearing Bryan singing... here by the Seine Rotterdam casts a long lonely shadow. We cleared that up ( along with wax build up in my ears). I been to both places now folks so I believe you now. It would be cool if Bryan, if just once, he flubbed the words on a night that he does not have the lyric sheet and Rotterdam was substituted for Notre Dame. I would be truly vindicated. Oh yeah........ Okay that's my two Euro's for now. You can now resume your current topics.
