Make a trip in to get them, or find a friend to get them for you, it will save you mucho bucks! Doh! Here am I in my insular world thinking that everyone knew about the Carlsberg beer adverts. Sorry but i just wasn't thinking globally. For those of you who have never seen them, the Carlsberg slogan is "Carlsberg - The best beer in the world.......probably" All their adverts run on a similar vein. For example; a guy walks into a bank to be greeted by a couple of beautiful girls, is sat on a chair, given a beer and asks for a huge loan. Bank Manager says "Sure have as much money as you want and pay it back whenever you feel like it" The tag line is Carlsberg dont operate banks but if they did etc. etc. etc. I dont mind explaining if it makes it clearer. I'm used to explaining things to my wife. Like why I've been out so late and stuff. Cheers the noo! SPOOF!!!! Wrote this during my "free" time today. M Bryan Ferry - Marketing Extraordinaire!!! by M England - Even we were baffled about the marketing and promotion (or lack thereof) for singer Bryan Ferry's tour for his latest album, Frantic, and called Mr. Ferry to discuss the situation. After many inconsistent statements about a (phantom) promoter, we finally dragged the truth out of him. "I didn't like the way the Roxy Music reunion tour was handled. This time, I decided to do things myself. No more middle man. After determining the cities by throwing darts at a map, I wrote up a list and divided it among my wife, sons and housekeeping staff. They each called the venues in their assigned cities to find out the available dates. I made a large chart in my study to keep track of their results. Once the dates and venues were decided, I called up the venues to book the dates since I didn't trust anyone else to do it." "Merlin is my little personal assistant while I labor away. Tara is very talented artistically so he's designing the ads and flyers for the tour. I went to the local stationary shop recently to buy paper, scissors, glue and markers for him. Otis and Isaac were assigned to distributing the tour information to the appropriate sources and handling the press. Unfortunately, that was a major mistake. Apparently, they've been occupied with pro-hunting protests and not helping dad. Otis is being punished for his recent fiasco and will be required to dye old dad's hair before the fall leg of the tour. I've asked my housekeeper to take over their assignments and everything will be under control." "Please reassure the fans not too worry. I'm getting the hang of everything and it will be more streamlined for the next tour." ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon Avalonians on tour 2002: http://helios.unive.it/~tcecilia/meetup.html US ticket sale info: http://www.thewebgal.com/roxymusic/ (updated weekly) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 Aug 2002 01:33:47 +0100 From: "Fraser Mitchell" Subject: Re: [AVALON] Bassist for Bowie and Ferry Hello, It's Gail Ann Dorsey - has played with Bowie since 1995 and was in the promo vid for Ferry's "I Put A Spell On You" which I think was 1991. I really hope that the changes to the set list will be worth the equivelent of #59.00. That's way over the top compared to what we're paying in the UK though I have heard that touring costs in the states are pretty high when compared to europe. I remember talking with Chris T. about this during the soundcheck in Edinburgh so perhaps he can fill this out some. In the end we all have the option of putting up the cash or staing at home, I for one did this with the UK open air shows and I suppose to some extent with the indoors as well until I see what will be done with the set list.
