OK, Mamouna would have to be my Number 1. After listening to ATGB for the first time in ages in the garden on a beautifully warm summer evening yesterday, that would be my current Number 2 (if you haven't tried it yet, get the Barbie on, a good bottle of wine or three, move the Hi as Fi as it will go into the Garden - if you have one - and enjoy - it really is a 20th Century masterpiece.) Had I replied to this on Saturday, I'd probably have said Stranded.......probably..... In fact, it is this very song that prompted me to buy a Roxy Music album in the first place! But what I really wish to comment about with this post is your exuberance. Of the years I have been on this list I have always enjoyed your contributions. Today, however, you have topped yourself! Your post on this subject was extraordinarily refreshing. I do not recall a more impassioned, from the heart post concerning any other previous SOTW post! Now I'm all charged up - thank you! Best wishes. I think it was on the Johnny Walker show where I first heard it in '74, when he announced he was going to play the "new Roxy single" I took the my radio & locked myself into a vacant room at work, the rest of my collegues knew they couldn't disturb me until it was over. Safe Inside I listened with an intensity I really should have applied to my work. I wasn't dissapointed, on first hearing it was wonderous, & I couldn't stop singing what I could remember of it all afternoon. To this day every time I drive by that house I say to the kids "That's where I first heard All I Want Is You" they say they're suprised there isn't a blue plaque on the wall! The best video for me is the German "Beat Club" performance. where TGPT drumming makes it sound even more "harder" Steve ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon Avalonians on tour 2002: http://helios.unive.it/~tcecilia/meetup.html ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 Jul 2002 13:49:06 -0700 From: "David Firmin" Subject: [AVALON] WireImage This site has a lot of recent Ferry pics for sale. http://www.wireimage.com/GalleryListing.asp?navtyp=SRH&str=bryan+ferry&styp=& sfld=C&sortval=8a Unfortunately they charge a fee to view the big pics.
