kd lang (one of my fave artists): Invincible Summer, seems to come out
june/july each year.
Gary Numan: Pure, a career high.
Air: Moon Safari.
Black: Everything he's done.
My fave album of the last couple of years is Depche Modes Exciter, the
programming for this album was so poor when you listen to it whole it was a
bit of a bore, but remove "Comatose" (never was an album track so correctly
named), "The Dead Of Night" (would have made a great b'side) and the two
instrumentals and you have a perfect 5* album. Also live the band are
fantastic.
Having seen U2 for the first time last year I bought Achtung Baby, Brilliant.

Just got back from the David Bowie concert in Horsens, Denmark.

If Bowie comes near your place, just one piece of advice: GO THERE!!!
That is just on hell of an experience. I have never seen or heard anything
better than this show. The sound, the mood, that voice and the crowds
reaction. It doesn't get better.

Ferry/Roxy is a class act, but I have to say that the Bowie show is in a class
of its own.

So,
take a second loan in your house, sell your furniture, sell your car,  sell
anything you can spare and go to this concert!

Pure magic!!!!!

Sorry Maggie, but IMO, to quote John MacEnroe "You can not be serious". This
rates no higher than demo status, a left over from the Taxi sessions that
was farmed out to a soundtrack to get him some publicity. With the quality
of material both solo and Roxy that Ferry has produced over the last thirty
years why would you want him to waste setlist time on a track like this,
it's bad enough that he's wasted album time on "Goin' Down". The release of
"Are You Lonesome Tonight" was fun at the time because it gave us something
that wasn't already on one of his albums, but I find it hard to believe that
you would seriously consider it worth a slot in a setlist. Now don't take it
seriously, but go stand in the corner facing the wall and recite "Bryan
Ferry has done better" until you have purged you mind of such thoughts.

on a set list--or better yet, hear at a show--which probably won't make
the final cut.  Most of them probably wouldn't even be on the big list to
begin with, now that I think about it, but that doesn't mean that that
song doesn't have a group of fans somewhere.  What's the song you'd like
to hear that you know you probably won't ever turn up on a setlist, and
why?  Would singing it at the top of your lungs bring catharsis?  are you
interested in seeing how the guitar solo is played?  did you make a bet
and stand to win a few dollars on it?

Off the top of my head, I'd say I'd love to hear "Is Your Love Strong
Enough."  Sure, it's a throwaway soundtrack song, but I think it ranks as
one of Mr. Ferry's greatest love songs.  I'd love to hear it live--the
swell of sound and emotion coming from the stage, and the audience singing
along from the stalls would be a wonderful combination.

And "Help Me" isn't far behind, either.

     I think the interesting thing about Bryan's covers is that no two people
can agree on which ones they like.  They all seem to have some appeal to some
people and no one likes all of them, apparently.  Most but not all of us agree
we'd rather hear originals.  Still, the opportunity for camp and
experimentation is ripe when doing covers, and in this we each find differing
pockets of redemption.  Bryan has said in interviews since the early seventies
that he thought he should do more covers.  He loves them and enjoys doing
them.  And so he does.  I've come to really like his concise version of "Goin
Down," though I never liked the original, too dumpy grungy.  I find it a good
car song, gives my fingers tapping on the steering wheel a real workout in
rush-hour traffic.
     We're going to have all those corners filled up pretty quickly here, I'm
afraid!  I'm off to mine right now.  Paula

There are more than a couple songs that might be more obscure that I'd die
to hear live-

1. More Than This (obviously not obscure, however..)
2. Spin Me Round (I think he could really make magic with this one)
3. Beauty Queen
4. Virtually anything from Siren not including BEB and LITD
5. Broken Wings or He'll Have to Go
6. True to Life (but somehow I don't it would translate well live for some
reason)

I think, too, that it would have been great if Ferry had performed "When She
Walks in the Room" during the '99 tour- perfect with the strings, etc.

After wrestling with my ageing steerable Satellite
earlier, I managed to get ZDF Channel tonight, to try
and see the Bry TV appearance.
'One Way Love' it was, mimed, with Katie, Sarah and
Anna backing him. The girls had a cheesy but cool
little dance routine all worked out - so expect this
one to appear on the setlist very soon ! 
There was some kind of competition they were running,
maybe a charity thing, whereby various stars
autographed the bonnet of a very cool sports car - Bry
obliged too, before being driven away in it, waving to
the crowd.  Tacky !!!
Lots of publicity at the moment though - Jay Leno
appearance next up from the States, tomorrow. 
Rumour is that it's going to be 'Don't Think Twice'
with Colin on piano, but we'll see...

I can't add much to what has already been said about Crathes which turned out 
to be great weekend for my self and my family.

A great time spent in great company and to top it all the young O'Brien's got 
to meet Mr Ferry.

Bryan was great with them. He saw them backstage and could see the picture 
that Penny had and came over to us. He was delighted with the drawing she had 
done of him and called over other members of the band. "Come and look at this 
girls" he said to the dancers and then he asked Penny if he could keep it and 
asked her to sign it for him. She gave him the picture and a copy of her 
review of the Edinburgh show and he said he must read it later.  Bryan 
chatted away to my kids about their school and football etc. 

I have not seen them going to bed so excited since Christmas eve, as a 
father, it was priceless.
