It's NOT actually shorter. None of these above songs were played at Crans-sur-Nyon either, as I wrote to Avalon a couple of weeks ago. In fact, if you check, you'll see that the choice and number of songs are exactly the same (although I see the two sets may have varied the order in which they were played). It's shorter than the debut performance on this tour, but it's not quite right to suggest the concerts are giving ever diminishing returns. This a serious question: Bryan Ferry plays Stockholm in September, the 2nd if I remember correctly. My wife returns, from a week of class in Stockholm, that day to our house some 600 kilometer south. We can not go to Stockholm both us at the same time because of the dogs. If I am in Stockholm I am dragged into meetings regarding work and bringing dogs with me is not kosher in a society were the allergic minority has banned as much as possible at work places. My best friends' combined 40 year birthday party is on September 7th in Stockholm and I would like to be there, I like them very mucxh as well as their kids and vice versa. Attending Ferry means that I would not see my wife for ten to 14 days and that is not a prospect I like. My wife is attending a rather expensive training that is scheduled that week, I can't change that. Going to Copenhagen is not much of an option either with demonstrators and politicians all over (I really hate crowds). Now I liked the Roxy concert last year very much, but the Ferry setlists that have been published so far is not all together my cup of Ferry tea. I have enjoyed Roxy live more then Ferry like, being out of Ferry for a number of years and missing the Mamouna tour. How fanatical should one be? Or how Frantic, rather? Daniel<<< Dear Daniel, Ask youself these questions: ~1) If it turns out this is the last Ferry tour, how would I feel about it then? ~2) If the set list changes by then to include most of Frantic and I missed it, would I be able to live with myself? ~3) If I don't attend these sort of once-in-a-lifetime chances to hear the greatest artist of our time, what do I really have to talk to my wife and friends about that has any meaning? ~~ Now, the dogs. I live in Texas, and I am coming to UK in October for gigs. As you may remember, I am quite fond of animals and coddle them much the same way a normal person coddles a baby and, in fact, and unlike yourself, find them much more savory around the dinner table than actual babies and far less terrifying. ~At the moment, I have a cat. Being allergic to cats, when I rescued her, gave her away, and she both climbed mountains and swam all the oceans blue to return to me, I built her her own room, which has a cat door to the outside. However, I bring her in at dusk to avoid problems. Leaving her outside while I am gone is not an option because then who would come running waving her arms in what must be considered by felines an impressively threatening display to defend her when she gratuitously provokes one of the neighboring cats into a confrontation and then screams wusslike for mummy? So what I am going to do is build a spectacularly white-trash looking affair out of scrap wood and chicken wire which will sit in the lawn against the catdoor to her room and make it big enough that she can get some sunshine and make a shady place in it too and make someone come over and feed my little Cowgirl once a day. For the first three days, she will be so enamored of the new unit that she will not even miss me. I am going to make this rig a month ahead of time to be sure it holds together. Go to the concert. Even your dogs will find you more interesting for it. "Frantic" is his best solo effort since 1978's "The Bride Stripped Bare." It's certainly his most Roxy-like solo LP. Ferry mixes originals and a few brilliantly weird covers. There are two Dylan oldies: a bleakly tender "Don't Think Twice," which captures Ferry's world-weary persona, and a gloriously sloppy "It's All Over Now Baby Blue." "Ja Nun Hons Pris" is 36 seconds of prettiness written by that medieval hunk Richard the Lion-Hearted. Ex-Roxy bandmate Brian Eno shares writing honors and adds backing vocals and keyboards to the majestic "I Thought." Ex Eurythmic Dave Stewart also lends a hand, most effectively on the single "Goddess of Love," a hip-shaking Marilyn Monroe homage. http://www2.bostonherald.com/entertainment/music/disc06302002.htm Yahoo!
