Where is everyone? Anyway, just want to ask if anyone has successfully recorded vinyl onto cd. I've been messing around with some Bryan Ferry/Roxy singles, trying to record them on my computer to put on cd. I have managed to hook it all up and messed about using Goldwave to record it. I've tried adjusting the quality etc but they still don't sound brilliant. Does anyone have any advice on the best settings to use? Anyone used Goldwave before? I've also done some cleaning up using Nero before copying onto CD and that does help but it's still not great. There's still some fuzz/hiss in the background. Perhaps it's not possible to make it perfect. The original vinyl singles aren't exactly in brilliant condition to start with. Any suggestions? Today I received the following message inviting me to join the Roxy based Amazona group on Yahoo. While I am pleased to have been invuted to take part I am slightly annoyed if there is a chance that the listing of Avalon members e-mail addresses has been used to make contacts. If whoever is setting the group up would care to post something on the list as to how the new group has been set up and who indeed is setting it up then ill have a think about it. "You've been invited to join the Amazona group hosted by Yahoo! Groups, a free, easy-to-use community service. By joining Amazona, you will be able to exchange messages with other group members, store photos and files, coordinate events and more" Godd luck with your group, but I do hope that this is not the thin edge to a wedge that will bring about the end of the Avalon group. David Firim set up this group--he cross-posted a message to both it and Avalon the other day which is how it came across the radar screen of some of us. That's unusual... I really don't recall any announcements on Avalon lately of any other groups. Tain't the sort of announcement I'm known to miss. - --Grant _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon Avalonians on tour 2002: http://helios.unive.it/~tcecilia/meetup.html ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Jun 2002 07:42:51 -0700 From: "David Firmin" Subject: Re: [AVALON] Amazona group. I was lucky enough to met him a couple of times about twenty years ago an found him to be very polite and humorous man. I've always rated him as one of the best bass player that I have ever heard and the Who would not have been half the band they were without his talent. The most recent appearance I saw by the band was on the New York benefit show on TV, the who in my mind were the best band there, they blew everybody else away on the night. The Ox was truly one of the greats. All the best, a very subdued Tom.
