I'm surprised that More Than This isn't on the new DVD? Did Roxy do it in > concert on that reunion tour? I thought it was one of > the favorites that they would have to do? > Welcome Mike, Yes they did do MTT for the first few shows on the tour but it got dropped along with If There Is Something? by the time they got to Nottingham(?) I think. Any way JP doesn't seem to have bought Frantic!" LOL! I guess JP would never know. But we would. Which brings me to my next question: Has Ferry ever used lyrics from one unpublished song, grafted them onto a song that is published, then later publish the previously unpublished song with its already loaned lyrics in tact? Would the release of "Love War", in its entirety, be unprecedented? Does anyone think Mr. Ferry would do such a thing? (At this station of his life, I suppose anything is possible, but would he really test his integrity this way? - JP would never know, but we would!) Along a similar vein of thought, keeping in mind that Ferry has reused bits of catch phrases in the past, such as, "chained and bound"... on different album projects, has he previously used a catch phase more than once on an album project as he has on "Frantic"? Specifically, the use of "nobody cares" in the songs "Cruel" and "Goddess Of Love". Does anyone find this frequency of use on a single project tiresome? Or have I my panties in a wad again? I am not a great fan of pop music, so as far as I am able, I do like "Goddess Of Love", and I feel it should have much appeal to the mass of potential listeners. I can't help but see great irony in the lyric "Nobody cares like I do". If Joltin' Joe was living he'd rightly take issue with that proclamation, since, of course, nobody cared about Ms. Monroe as faithfully as Mr. DiMaggio did. Ironically, too, this salute to Marilyn Monroe doesn't hold a candle to Bernie Taupin's excellent lyrically tribute written about this tragic movie icon. Therefore, GOL is true to pop? And therefore, good - because it is a catchy little number with over the top irony and flamboyance? OK, I'm blind-folded, up against the wall - go ahead, take your best shot. I'll try not to squirm, too much. Best wishes, all. Faves would be Concrete Blonde's take on "End of the Line" & Grace Jones' "Love is the Drug" (think she would have done a mean spin on "Both Ends Burning", had she chosen). Ditto w/ Grant on Banshees' "Sea Breezes". I've been absorbing Frantic for about 2 weeks now & relish every note. Taking the (un)popular concensus with the lackluster packaging/liner notes as its only short-coming for me. That shot on the front sleeve of him smoking almost makes him look as if he's submerged in water, maybe it's the Photoshop effects or my over-active imagination trying to link it to its Hitchcockian title *FRANTIC*. Heaviest single rotation for me would have to be "I Thought", perfect choice to close the line up with... though its title sounds more Eno than Ferry to me. Funny, I find it reminiscent of Bowie/Eno/LOW Crashing-In-The-Same-Car/New-Career-In-a-New-Town. A Freshman to the list, but a senior States Roxy Fan... - -- Don P.S. KBP It wouldn't bother me personally, I'd rather hear alternative versions of a song/theme or lyric than have 5 re-mixes of the same song. Al-la "I Put A Spell On You" CD single.
