Suddenly they were gone, and the fireworks began, the Castle up above as a backdrop. And what a backdrop. A great display, and a fitting end to a great evening. However, not quite finished yet, much after gig chatter with Julie and Debbie, who I hadn't seen for ages, and also spied Iris and friends, Jane Collard, and Duncan. Hi to all. A decision was made to go to The Dome for after gig analysis (ok then, drinks), and off we all went. Most were already inside, as J.O.B, Chris T and myself walked up the steps. I was stopped in my tracks. "No trainers", said the bruiser. Hmmm. A lot of people were getting in with them, but not me - mine were too damn noticeable. Damn ! Chats on the steps with John and Chris, and unbeknown to me, plans were already afoot (sorry) inside the venue. Next minute, Jocelyn appears, says "Reecey, follow me" and off we went, across the road out of sight, whereby she produced a pair of fine black shoes from her bag. A quick swop-over, and a couple of minutes later, in I walked unchallenged, to join the throng. I nipped next door into the cocktail bar, to find a jovial and chatty shoeless Alan. You are a hero, sir. I had a fine time strolling about this marvellous Bar in my (ok, Alan's ) new shoes. A load of us commandeered a huge table in the cocktail bar, to muse over Tours and Albums past and present, Video/DVD plans, AMA2 plans, hey, we covered the lot, and Therese ordered a different coloured exotic drink to suit each Roxy album. Great to have a proper chat with Chris Cassidy and his wife about all things Roxy, too. Turfed out of there sometime later in my own shoes, and most of us decided it was time to eat. There didn't seem to be anything around, and besides, a few of us had long drives ahead. So, we invaded the golden arches, for the slowest fast 'food' I'd ever experienced, and we all said our goodbyes, and went our separate ways, with much last minute "which gig you going to next" conversations piercing the air. Then it was over. I returned to Glasgow on Sunday, meeting up with old friends, and spent most of today in that 'memory lane' frame of mind as I had 3 hours to kill, and the seaside town of Irvine was close to the airport. Hey, I hadn't been there since I was 8 years old, and spent a lot of time there as a lad in Summer, way back when. Collected seashells (well, you would too, wouldn't you ?) and my childhood was regained, if only for a few minutes. Flight back tonight, with BF and RM on the Minidisc to pass the time. Home around 11pm. Tired. Happy. Shoeless. Reecey... That said, I'm starting to like that track more and more. Keith NP: Give Ireland Back to the Irish / Paul McCartney > Oops, thanks Colleen for the reminder. Had a wander down to 'Princes Gardens' later in the afternoon to check out the venue, seats etc. En route bumped into Paul Thompson coming out of the park a quick Hi etc-claimed he did remember me from previous meeting, but we all know what a nice guy he is! Next up met Jocelyn and friend, Monica and friend who were like me checking the seats-yes we confirmed,we all had pretty average seats. Then linked up with Jane Collard and spent some time in deep Ferry discussion mode. Suddenly it seemed, despite the best effort of several security people, the park was 'emptied', I was still there, Bryan had arrived and we were enjoying the soundcheck, almost a private show for the several Avalonians there. Not much to add about the show itself, except that, as someone else said, don't know quite how, but I found myself at the front of the stage, clapping along to '.. Baby Blue'. Bryan, Lucy and Julia were just having so much FUN!. Roxy it wasn't but fantastic it was!! I would have to agree with Therese 'The Dome' is well worth a visit -great to put faces to names, or in my case names to faces!. The next day, couldn't get 'Sign of the times' out of my head, I'd almost forgotten about the football!.Liverpool?-I can't wait!. Regards, Duncan. _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ End of avalon-digest V7 #189 **************************** ======================================================================== For further info, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: info avalon-digest
