Tickets are FREE, Jonathan Ross mentioned it on yesterday's programme, but I can't find mention of it on the Beeb website. The extract below includes a link, but it doesn't refer to Ferry. >>Further to my earlier post, the following link refers to a concert at Belfast Castle on June 4th (but doesn't mention Ferry). http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/events/musiclive/index.shtml >>> On the same day BBC teletext had made reference to a Bryan Ferry concert (part of Music Live's Jubilee celebrations) from Belfast but didn't give a date!! There was also a mention on last Monday's Album Chart show on Radio 2. After playing a track from Frantic, presenter Simon Mayo referred to a "special Radio 2 gig featuring Bryan next month", but gave no further details. So Tuesday June 4th looks a possibility.... And speaking of things that make me laugh; Jocelyn, I nearly cried laughing with your tail of your crazy dog. And Underpants - I thought I was the only one to hear that. Perhaps it's a Geordie thing? Anyway - here's the original reason for the post. Father & Son Hunting A father and son went hunting together for the first time. The father said, "Stay here and be very QUIET. I'll be across the field." A few minutes later, the father heard a bloodcurdling scream and ran back to his son. "What's wrong?" the father asked. "I told you to be quiet." The son answered: "Look, I was quiet when the snake slithered across my feet. I was quiet when the bear breathed down my neck. I didn't move a muscle when the skunk climbed over my shoulder. I closed my eyes and held my breath when the wasp stung me. I didn't cough when I swallowed the gnat. I didn't cuss or scratch when the poison oak started itching. But when the two chipmunks crawled up my pant legs and said, 'Should we eat them here, or take them with us?' Well, I just panicked!" ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 12 May 2002 13:19:16 -0400 From: "Helen Thorpe" Subject: [AVALON] Terry's Setup Terry, I agree with Pete - should be entirely possible, if labrynthine. I'm late to this thread, but I think it's still a live one, especially as the North American folks haven't yet had a chance to pick up _Frantic_. I think you hear all of these things on the album, particularly the latter too. There's a joy and a liveliness on _Frantic_, an immediacy that was missing in its earlier incarnation. What I also like about it is that whereas I found his last few solo outings to be a bit tentative, this one is confident. I don't think this album marks a path Ferry will follow again, but I do think it stands as a marker on the map of his career. I'm actually very relieved at how it sounds, even as I know I may not like the next one as much. Too often--actually, all too often--recording artists seem to lose the plot (e.g., I'm a fan of Neil Finn's. His first solo album was OK, but the second one was just dreadful in spots. It's being re-released here in the US in a few weeks after having been remixed. Since it's just a remixing--as opposed to the re-recording that was done in parts of _Frantic_--I have rather low hopes, and I fear even those will be dashed. Oh, and (remixed) title is crap, too.) as they mover further along their careers and they all seem to end up in Blandsville. I wish I knew why that was.
