Jools (who seemed miserable off camera) spent a lot of time chatting with the lead singer of the Hives, who was very funny when asked if Iggy Pop had been an influence. The Hives were really good and performed 3 songs and an encore that probably won't be transmitted. Sorry you were unable to make it, it would have been nice to see a familiar face. I say entertaining because it made me laugh when you mentioned about dancing around at Newcastle Arena. I was there too. That was a brilliant night! I can match your reaction to Virginia Plain. When I first saw Roxy on TV singing Virginia Plain in all their glitter etc I was blown away. It's my favourite Roxy song. What a song... As for Dreamhome, I must admit that I didn't know what to make of it when I first heard it. Now it's one of my favourites! It was amazing to watch Roxy last year. It was the first time I'd seen them live - god, what I've missed out on in the 70s!!! Anyway, enjoy the Avalon list, and the tour this year, Take care, Tracy >From: Ally >Reply-To: Ally >To: avalon@smoe.org >Subject: [AVALON] Introduction >Date: Thu, 9 May 2002 01:10:40 +0100 > >Hello Avalonian's, >I have been a Ferry/Roxy fan since I was 13, the first time I heard >Virginia Plain I felt like I had been hit round the back of the head >with a very large plank of wood (I mean that in a good way) and never >recovered (I mean that in a good way too) I got lost off for a while >during the more mellow years (I liked the early stuff) but my dormant >love was re-awakended by going to see Roxy this year, was I blown away? >did I make a fool of myself dancing at Newcastle Arena?
