OMEN. Hi All A horse called FRANTIC TAN is running in the Grand National tomorrow ( The most important race in the UK ),The odds are 66/1, not very good, it has a chance to finish in the top 20. This race is a pure lottery with only a few of the 40 starters finnishing, last year about 4 or 5. lets hope it does well and what odds do you give B.F. FRANTIC winning or getting in the top 20 in the UK charts. my Guess would be a top 4 at 66/1. top 10 at 4/1. top 20 evens. One thing though - I didn't qualify for a discount on them, as I don't have an account with Virgin Germany, sorry... meaning they'll be 3.99 each (plus postage). Anyone interested ? I didn't even know the Roxy Music at all till about biginning of December 2001 when a friend of mine asked me if I could take pictures of the Roxy Music tribute band called Re-make/Re-model. Since I'd never done concert photography but was willing to learn I gave it a go. Too bad I didn't know most of the songs they played other then the well know hit charts busters. In order to know who was going to do an impressive solo when I had decided I needed to study the music a bit better. I made two cd's full of Roxy/Bryan Ferry songs that Re-make played on that show and played them over and over in the car, driving everybody nuts. After a short while I got into the music and found out that some of the less known songs were much better (deeper) then the chart busters, especially the old song had a great apeal to me. Just about 2 weeks after I made pictures at the first show I had to go again and since then I try to go to everuy show they do. In order to study even more I decided to buy the "the high road" dvd and just got my copy of the "musikladen" dvd today while awaiting the 2001 live show dvd as well. It seems once infected there is no way back, no cure what so ever, though I think nobody is really trying to find one anyway :) For those of you who are interested in more information about me.... just read on for some details, the others can just skip this part and go to the below mentioned links to see some of my concert photographs of Re-make/Re-model or go directly to the website of Re-make/re-model to see more about this great tribute band... especially to figure out when they play again ! The reviews you wrote in this forum are now appearing under the 'Tour and Event Reviews' menu. For now, you can relive the magical night that was 'Mad Affair', the excitement of the Roxy Press Conference and the first three gigs of the Roxy Music tour, in Dublin, Glasgow and Newcastle. More to follow later... Of course if you're a hugely self-important urbanite who likes their tailored information to arrive without even a modicum of effort of their part, I can always have the contents transcribed onto parchment and motor-cycle-couriered to your home, where Anthony Hopkins can read them out to you, while you recline on a chaise langue, eating grapes freshly peeled by an Indian house-boy... I also came across a couple of Roxy pin ups and an interesting article on Eno`s Another Green World in an April 27, '76 issue of Circus magazine which goes into "oblique strategies" but also includes a hilarious smoking (cigarette) story. All of these can be found at I use to collect those too. I still have some of the Circus ones. It's good now an then to look back knowing what we know now. Bryan and Jeri looked so much in love. Too bad the storm clouds and the "'snake" was lurking in the background. It will be their first appearance together since they broke up in April 1970. Keith will be reunited with original members Lee Jackson (vocals, bass) and Brian Davison (drums). The trio, who pioneered progressive rock in the Sixties, are expected to play their best-known arrangements 'Rondo' and 'America'. Any chance of Bryan playing there? Anyone out there who could suggest this as a venue to Bryan's tour management?> And these as well: Here's my suggestions for Dallas/Fort Worth. In Dallas, the Bronco Bowl. It doesn't sound like much, but it's about the right size, theatre seating, all good seats, good acoustics, probably not expensive. It was built in the fifties for country acts, closed for a couple of decades and reopened. It is underground under a bowling alley. I love it. The place to AVOID and the venue where they try to book everybody because they love that "lawn seating" option in case they sell more tickets than will ever happen, is the Smirnoff Music Center, an open-air atrocity at the fairgrounds with little, if any, temperature control and crap sound. In Fort Worth, I believe in the nineties, Ferry played at a civic center, and it was fine but hard as hell to get to. For a really posh venue, Bass Hall would be ideal, in the heart of Fort Worth, a newish three-tiered opera house of an affair which doesn't book rock but might be persuaded to book the elegant and sophisticated Ferry nonetheless. And please DO play New Orleans. I SO need an excuse to hole up in Windsor Court for a day or two, and can think of no better! P.S. I'm so glad it's looking like fall, though the wait will be tedious. Much nicer weather. Think September! Perfect would be if you were anywhere near Texas on September 24th, my birthday. Fun fun fun!
