We're moving into another spring and summer where many of us will be buying concert tickets, making travel plans, and, new this spring, staking out record shops. May I ask if the folks in the know would please pay the Avalon list the courtesy of posting such information directly to the list? It is always very nice to have the complete information about concert and release dates directly in our inboxes, and I think I speak for many in saying that such efforts are very much appreciated. This past Saturday at The Roxy Cafe in Evanston, Illinois, some of us gathered to share stories, pictures, cds, hugs and good times! Many thanks to Andrew for making this happen! Andrew, Kelly, Kim, Pete, Jas and me. What a crew! I had a tape of "Frantic" with me and Pete had the Brussels 2000 CD which we so wanted to hear but the manager said due to restaurant policy they could not bend the rules and play either for us - SIGH. (Only to find out that they did not have a tape player, only a CD player). So it goes. It turns out though that the manager is a Roxy fan! But still couldn't bend the rules! Viva Roxy Music! Cheers to Bryan! Let's hear it for the upcoming Frantic! May 28th (is it?) can't come soon enough! Peace to all, Eileen in Kew Gardens We had a blast on Saturday. A cool bunch of folks. Lots of laughs and stories. Yes, it was a bit strange with that manager. This was even after he told us that he had saw the Roxy with Eno in 1972! Corporate hacks: what can you do?. I'm a corporate person, but I can ( and do) bend the rules now an then. Kim knows this too :))) Eileen you are now a member of the CMC- Queens Chapter. "Frantically" awaiting the release Jas _________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 4 Apr 2002 21:16:18 -0500 From: "tmoq" Subject: [AVALON] Stuff Just got back from a week with the folks in balmy New Orleans where I was able to hear a copy of Frantic thanks to a kind soul. Veeeeery interesting. But I`ll hold any comments and comparisons until the official release. And what trip back home is complete without digging through your old closet for hidden treasures and other long forgotten items....perhaps I`ll come across that favorite blood red paisley polyester shirt and avocado green bell-bottom pants or those lizard skin platform shoes that nearly crippled my ass so many times. Well, I didn`t find any of those but I did come across a mountain of rock magazines from the '70`s and early '80`s ...Circus, Cream, Rolling Stone etc....and my search for something to pass the time on the flight back turned up a real winner in a May '76 issue of a sleazy gossip rag called Rock Scene magazine which contains a page devoted to Bryan and Gerry(sic). I also came across a couple of Roxy pin ups and an interesting article on Eno`s Another Green World in an April 27, '76 issue of Circus magazine which goes into "oblique strategies" but also includes a hilarious smoking (cigarette) story. All of these can be found at http://www.pipeline.com/~tmoq/band.html Also, anyone with a Delta Airlines flight aboard one of the new 777/767-400 jets equipped with the T.V./Radio stations will want to check out Channel 11 for the '70`s Glam Rock hour hosted by Daniel Ash (Bauhaus' and Love & Rockets) which features an hour of music by Roxy, The Sweet, Bowie (singing Velvet Goldmine no less) T-Rex, Lou Reed, Elton John, Gary Glitter, Mott the Hoople, David Essex, and others. You'll find I'll deliver the latest, properly researched and accurate information to your inboxes in a timely and concise fashion, just as I have done for others for the last fifteen months at an average of one newsletter every 10 days or so. This will also permit me to react more quickly and fairly when information arrives, as I won't then have to write everything twice, and some 200 plus people here won't have to read everything twice. I always intend to post to the greater constituency represented by my mailing list first anyway My newsletter is also delivered immediately, with the additional benefit that those people on the digest here will not have to wait until the next day when, for example, the better seats for a concert might already be sold. Join here: http://www.roxyrama.com/interactive/interactive_mailinglist-frameset.html Have a look at my mailing list archive to see what I have posted over the months here: http://roxyrama.notifylist.com/roxyrama-archive/ (please forgive my rather idiosyncratic policy for numbering and dating these posts) Regards Chris - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Colleen Matan" To: Sent: Friday, April 05, 2002 12:21 AM Subject: [AVALON] information, please > I have a request, and I'm speaking as a list member. > > We're moving into another spring and summer where many of us will be > buying concert tickets, making travel plans, and, new this spring, staking > out record shops.
