I am sure had Avalon known about a possible vote, VP would have earned it`s rightful position. But the final top 10 is tonight (Wednesday), all is not lost and we must therefore assume some other Roxy contribution will be no.1 N. ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 3 Apr 2002 07:20:58 -0600 From: "Jas" Subject: [AVALON] Chicago Martini Club Date: Tue, 2 Apr 2002 19:59:36 EST From: Avalon887@AOL.COM Subject: [AVALON] Chicago Martini Club Hi. This past Saturday at The Roxy Cafe in Evanston, Illinois, some of us gathered to share stories, pictures, cds, hugs and good times! Many thanks to Andrew for making this happen! Andrew, Kelly, Kim, Pete, Jas and me. What a crew! I had a tape of "Frantic" with me and Pete had the Brussels 2000 CD which we so wanted to hear but the manager said due to restaurant policy they could not bend the rules and play either for us - SIGH. (Only to find out that they did not have a tape player, only a CD player). So it goes. It turns out though that the manager is a Roxy fan! But still couldn't bend the rules! Viva Roxy Music! Cheers to Bryan! Let's hear it for the upcoming Frantic! May 28th (is it?) can't come soon enough! Peace to all, Eileen in Kew Gardens We had a blast on Saturday. A cool bunch of folks. Lots of laughs and stories. Yes, it was a bit strange with that manager. This was even after he told us that he had saw the Roxy with Eno in 1972! Corporate hacks: what can you do?. I'm a corporate person, but I can ( and do) bend the rules now an then. Kim knows this too :))) Eileen you are now a member of the CMC- Queens Chapter. Does anyone know if these "extra" tracks will surface on any single CD release?, or, is buying the Japanese version of the album the only way to hear them???? Aleks Yahoo! Much has been written about 'Baby Blue', I can only add I consider it a great version with a strong shining vocal that reminds me a bit of the first Roxy album! Who else could phrase like this? WWTT is the album version, obviously, and remains one of my favourite Ferry solo songs. The unreleased 'Smoke Dreams' (or, alternatively, 'Smoke Dreams Of You') is a nice slow ATGB outtake with that breathy close-up vocal which was charcteristic for much of the ATGB album.
