Oh the excitement and tension on the bus home. He'll Have To Go was... nice, but H*lp Me was dull, dull, dull!!! And I've never got past that, it's an uneventful 4 mins of not very much. Very repetitive, just like its companion Is Your Love Strong Enough, but at least that had bluster to carry it through and make it mildly interesting. Hmmm. "Is your love strong enough?" is a great record. Wholesome. Excellent poetic lyrics, Ferry singing his heart out, great guitar by Kamen and Gilmour, fantastic video , better than the movie, (our Bryan in strange pants.) What the song had to do with the movie, I'll never know. Whose love? Cruise's? The girl's? Frank N Furter's? This is a perfectly listenable audience recording of a great performance, although it is marred slightly by some yahoos shouting desperately, loudly and fruitlessly for "Virginia Plain," and it is missing the first minute or so of "Jealous Guy." I am offering eight further free copies of this show to the list. I'm expecting at least three of the people responding to commit that they will tree/weed/chain/B+P it on-list as well. *People who have agreed to tree it get their copies made first. If you tell me that you will tree it and you fail to do so, then I will not copy for you again. Further, individuals who have, in earlier offers, promised me they would copy for Avalon and yet have not made their offers to Avalon are excluded from this offering. On this note, while I'm always pleased to spread the music, my offers always seem to attract from the same pool of 20 or so people. I'd like any lurkers or casual fans who might be curious to please speak up and let me know you're interested. You're just as welcome to share this free music as the rest of us! If you would like a copy of this boot, you must: 1. Be willing to send two good-quality blanks and a SASE for your copy. 2. Be one of the first eight people to reply to this offer. 3. Tell me whether you're willing to make copies as well (about three or four, nothing maddening). 4. Reply by Wednesday, Mar. 27. 5. Understand that if you don't hear back from me, you must take my silence as a polite apology, that you were not one of the first eight. (But you have nothing to lose in trying!) 6. Reply to me, and not the list. That would be especially silly considering the reply-to. While I didn't agree with everything said in the article (it's hard for me to agree with anything that mentions Gary Glitter that many times), it is perhaps the first time I've seen that connection between glam and metal drawn, which was sort of comforting since I am in what seems a minority of people for whom the connection came quite naturally and seem relatively obvious. I still think that one reason the parallels weren't drawn more often is because so many years separate the two and because many people get sort of (pleasantly) stuck in one era. But that's just a passing speculation. Interesting!
