I've not posted for a while so apologies if this has been mentioned before. You can vote for Roxy performing Virginia Plain as your fave totp performance. The results will be shown in early April on totp2. If you want to vote for any other Roxy/Ferry you can type it in. It's all at: www.bbc.co.uk/totp2 Also, many thanks to those who posted 'Frantic' reviews! Tara Hey all I've maintained the Always Unknowing page, renowned in parts worldwide as the least of the Ferry/Roxy fansites, for an awfully long time, since before I knew there was an Avalon list. And frankly, I'm just a little bored of doing it. I think I want to be a more passive fan again, and not have any responsibility for fixing all the blasted links and tracking down boots and resizing images and getting insane e-mails from people who think I'm Bryan Ferry. (The sane e-mails I haven't minded at all.) The site will probably remain up until the end of the month and possibly longer if I don't bother to dismantle it. On the off chance anyone with more time and interest than me would like to take the site over, host it and make it prettier and more useful, then I'd be happy to pass the reins over to you instead. I'm certain several hundred of you will be applying for the job and I'll have to bat most of you away with a stick, so if you truly want Always Unknowing, then drop me a line telling me how much groovier you'll make it. All applications considered. I'll still be around, I'll still be active, I'll still be treeing and I'll probably still be obnoxious, but not worrying about stuff as much. - --Grant http://www.geocities.com/popocalypse/ferry.html _________________________________________________________________ Join the worlds largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 Mar 2002 22:53:40 -0000 From: "thom.wallace" Subject: Re: [AVALON] OT - Need A Burner? Terry, I've found that there are plenty of small computer stores who will do good deals on burners. In Glasgow we have Infiniti and Priceless, both of them sell units cheaper than the PC World type of store, check your local/evening paper for add's. I'd reckomend Ricoh and Plextor. At the moment I'm usig a Yamaha, it's ok, but I prefer my old Ricoh. One thing I would advise is to purchase a SCSI unit, they tend to be more reliable and can read discs that Atapi units give up on, however they do tend to cost a little more and do require a SCSI interface card. Hope I've been of help. Cheers, Tom. I'm sure they overlap in quite a few areas. Assuming there's 2-3 sites that would be willing to merge I think this would eliminate a lot of the duplicated efforts and content. UK I don't profess to be an expert but I'd concur with the brands Thom recommends. I have a Plextor myself and have been pleased with it. I know also that some companies (for example Roland) use the Plextor as their cd unit and rebadge it as their own. I've also heard that Ricoh is a reputable unit. For an online company I'd recommend www.novatech.co.uk. Their prices are always good and they have a good reputation as regards speed and service. (Delivery is free if ordering online).
