Hello, I was listening to Eddie Jobson's The Green Album from 1983. Wow, what a great musician he was then. What is he doing these days ? If he could join the band this summer, we could enjoy all the great violin tunes from In Your Mind and The Bride Stripped Bare. Don't you think so, Bryan? Are the guitar players Johnny Marr and Chris Spedding? jim. ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 9 Mar 2002 15:14:00 +0100 From: Daniel Atterbom Subject: Re: [AVALON] Don't think twice... I am a Dylan fan from the mid-70's period. I like A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall too, but the cover version's on Frantic sans the Richard Lionheart one, are no good. Ferry's own songs, written with others, are much better. On the whole I like Mamouna better. I like Ferry's first solo album better. Frantic is a good album, but it could have been a great album. The host of that talk show now has his own talk show on a bigger network and is having Madanna, Kylie, Posh Spice mrs Beckham, the crown princess of Sweden, the prime minister of Sweden etc as guests. His former producer, now not so big recording artist, recieved a an email with 25 questions, 23 of which had good answers. I junked the two duds, pasted the answers with the questions and send the interview to my proof-reader. We've done this before and he likes it. The performer was a fantastic Japanese musician who has gained some renown as one of the world's foremost "ondes" players. Bryan would have enjoyed this, and might have found himself wishing he had got hold of Takashi Harada for the ATGB sessions. Cynthia Millar, the performer he did get, apparently lives in San Francisco and her name cropped up several times (although she didn't). Some of the music played was beyond avant-garde, in fact positively Eno-esque. One number, sung in Italian by the musician, included a far-out taped accompaniment. The Domed One would have been delighted I think. Here's the link to an article about the musician with a photo of the ondes martenot: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2002/03/09/DD219905.DTL Betsy in SF ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ End of avalon-digest V7 #92 *************************** ======================================================================== For further info, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: info avalon-digest
