Her daughter is actress Gaby Hoffman who has appeared as a child star in Uncle Buck, Volcano, and Field of Dreams. She describes her mother as crazy, amazing and neurotic so I guess she's still around but not an easy interviewee! Candy Darling died of leukaemia aged 25 in 1974 and was buried as a woman. I always had a soft spot for Holly Woodlawn (Candy Darling's bitch nemesis). Warhol's screen tests are brilliant. Stick someone in front of a noisy camera with no direction, then walk away and leave them there. The one of Salvador Dali sitting bolt upright and starring as "The Great Darhhhhhhleeeee" intensely into the camera and gradually disintegrating in front of your eyes as he can't keep up the bravado cracked me up. They should have had a sign on the way into the Factory "Hang your ego by the door". Talking of Dennis Hopper, I would love to come back as him (as opposed to Warren Beatty's fingers which was Woody Allen's first choice!). What a life! Involved as a photographer during the Civil Rights years, mate of James Dean's, friend of The Factory's and now living in an Art Gallery fortress covered in graffiti right smack dab in the middle of South Central LA with Ice T and Snoop Doggy Dog dropping by for afternoon tea. And I bet he'd make a better job of the Frantic cover too. There was a great show on Swedish TV on "Transformer" the other week, I guess it was a edited version of the series when they profile an album, the name escapes me at the moment. Reed, Bowie and Ronson where all interviewed as well as bass player Herbie Flowers and others. I meet Flowers 20 years ago when he was in Sky, a great guy. I think that Holly was interviewed as well. She said they were amzed that Reed wrote Walk on the ild Side about them. Even more amazing that it got air play in Europe and became a hit.
