"The CD will turn up another time and in another place ? ( I could not resist that one) Have you tried looking in yor CD ?" You are absolutely right! - "Another Time, Another Place" shall surely turn up 'another time, another place'! Ya, I looked for it once, about two months ago, with no positive result - remember the thread about how the album jacket of ATAP indicates that Ferry is from an unprivileged background (his fag is smoked way too low)? You ask "Whats a mud room?". It isn't anything like the 'mud rings' at the 'wet T-shirt' nights held in some dives. :) A mud room is a secondary entrance into the home, used primarily by household members, where one may kick off their muddy boots and shoes, shake off the snow and rain, deposit umbrellas, hang up their jackets, coats and accessories, wash their hands, rinse off dirt and perspiration; basically, it is the room where you leave items from the outdoors that you really don't want in the house. And yes, I've searched for ATAP there, too! Oh where can it be? Best wishes. (Well, maybe Jas....) I have found that people have a sort of radar for people with similiar lifestyles: I can pick out Lighting Designers in airports, I have a friend who is a Cop who can pick identify other Cops in a crowd, my Gay friends can identify other Gay men when it is not obvious to me, the Unitarians in my life can identify other Unitarians (while, strangely, the Methodists in my life can't sense each other); but I have never found the secret of identifying other Avalonians. I circled around John O'Brien for ten minutes at the resteraunt in Boston, before risking to ask.... So, my question is not what is an Avalonian, but how do you spot them? In spite of dire warnings from Daughter A about how one is not supposed to meet in person people encountered on the Internet, Daughter B and I found ourselves outside a downtown Chicago pub one August day, my heart racing at the prospect of meeting folks as "weird" (to quote Daughter A) as I. OK, right place right time. I was hoping the bar would be near empty, or at least the Avalonians would have some sort of "locating device" in plain sight. However, the place was packed to the gills with suits loudly celebrating the end of their workday. In my nervousness I could not remember the name of the Av. who had arranged the gathering, and asked the host if any sort of Avalon group had a reservation. He gave me sort of a goofy look and checked his list to no avail. I had a look around the establishment, really didn't see anything promising, so my daughter and I left. :-( It was hard to reason with her why we had cut short our trip to Navy Pier for nothing. If and when Bryan tours this year, it should be mandatory that all Avalonians planning get-togethers wear a large recognizable item--I suggest a leopard summer-weight anorak! ;-) Karen ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 13 Jan 2002 21:34:54 -0000 From: "Philip Adams" Subject: Re: [AVALON] SOTW: "No Strange Delight" By strange coincidence I played "Flesh & Blood" earlier this evening. My senses must have been acute because I picked out the piano on this track which I'd never noticed so intensely before. Rather haunting , I thought. And to find it SOTW. This is another of Ferry's laments to a parted lover, something he does rather well , and often. An intelligent lyric on top of a decent tune. Is it forlorn? I thought it was when I first heard it.
