As if by magic, I've just received an e-mail from Wembley saying that in response to the huge demand since tickets went on sale last Friday, they've added a second date for Rod Stewart. If the tickets sell, the prices are valid. But if they only sell a percentage, the buyers subsidise the tickets that don't sell. Of Course! Also, here's an update on Bryan's album: Paul dubbed to all the tracks he did, so no one else was playing along. That must mean Ferry needed a little extra power on certain tracks. Ferry must have obviously been impressed with Paul's playing on the tour to invite him to the sessions this late in the game Chris Spedding did come in on the last day to do some guitar. Paul can't tell too much about the tracks except that they are all original except for one. The same thing happened after the ATGB tour. >Chris Spedding did come in on the last day to do some guitar. Thankfully both Paul and Speddo are intuitive no messing about merchants otherwise I have visions of the Ferry album being postponed until Newcastle United win the FA Cup (and that's a long time coming). Paul also said (on his forum) that he, Bryan and Andy once made up a horn section for Mother of Pearl, but never contemplated doing that set-up live as "who would play the drums?" . And who would sing for that matter? What a bizarre scenario. These discs are very in-depth, with a lot of rare live and studio footage. They also have interviews with the band members and producers. They cover every track in detail and even play around with the mixing board - so you can hear an isolated instrument or vocal. I saw "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" and it was fantastic. The presence of overdubbing actually impacts my purchasing decision in a negative way; while I will support Roxy by buying their products, I am less inclined to do so knowing that the "live" album I am buying has been tampered with after the fact, and will probably pick it up after anything else that month that I want to buy. But since I intend to buy it anyway, it stands to reason that the band is throwing money away needlessly on studio time and Rhett Davies' services. Or are there truly people in the world who are going to say "Wait a minute! I will only buy a live album if Rhett Davies overdubbed it four months after it was recorded! You'll have to have him working his engineering magic before you get my money, Virgin Records!" I might also add that the label would also save some money by looking up "Strimpldisc," who probably works cheaper than anyone at the label's design department, and whose work far surpasses that seen on either of the official live Roxy albums. I just discovered that my 200 CaseIt CD storage binder is mucking up the read surface of my CD's. Physically they are getting lots of tiny bumps/residue on them on the playing surface. They always did seem to stick a little bit to the material they use for the seperator but I never thought twice about it. I did email CaseIt to let them know about the problem but they have not responded yet. So, if you you this type of binder to store your CD's I would look at the playing surface very closely for these tiny bumps/residue. I should note that I was able to clean them with a lot of rubbing with a soft wet non-abrasive cloth, but each one takes a long long time. I haven't determined if there is a safe cleaning agaent that will remove the residue yet. Does anyone have a cleaning suggestion? What does everyone else use to store their ever growing collection of CDR's? I hate to go back to indivdual cases since they take up so much room.
