While you and I were awe-inspired by the 'new' styles BF sported in the early 70s that blew a whiff of fresh air down Coiffeurie Avenue, he in fact was less than keen and so, in sleeve pix such as These Foolish Things, where he appears to have gone for a brilliantined shorter style, he in fact has his hair pinned back out of sight as it was still down way past his collar. He just wasn't ready to have his hair cut short at that point, but recognised the style imperative. I know, it sounds like a cruel and malicious lie, but I swear it's all true. This trader recorded the full Sydney Aug. 01 concert and made some artwork for it for his circle of friends and acquaintances under the name "Memento." These associates were asked to keep trading of this discreet and to not sell it. Well, as regular visitors to my bootleg page (found within http://www.geocities.com/popocalypse/ferry.html) know, eBay would be the place where I first heard about "Memento," and the taper was understandably upset to read its listing on my site, and that his recording, and his artwork, was being sold for profit. Since I've made a few sleeves for unofficial, free releases myself, I'm naturally understanding of this gentleman's concern. I've never taped a show myself, so I can't imagine how annoying this must be. Well, obviously we can't control the actions of people once free things have left our hands, but I would like to let everyone on Avalon know, at the very least, that the "Memento" CD currently being sold for profit is being done against the wishes of the fellow who taped it, named it, designed it and traded it in good conscience, and I hope that everyone who reads this would think twice about buying a copy.
