Subject: [AVALON] Re: Tribute Don't totally agree with Tracy, but it's just different tastes of music. I loved C. Hyde Mystery Train, I believe they captured what came close to sounding like orginal beat of that song. Dylan's song is a old blues , done very well. Didn't like Live's version of Walk the Line as no one does it better than the writer & singer the one Johnny Cash. Lonely Weekend by Charlie Rich will always be the best. As well as his version of Who Will the Next Fool Be. I did like Sheryl Crow on this song , lot of soul.Chris Isaak of course did the Hank Williams Wouldn't be The Same without You.As well as the Bonus track with Mandy Barnett & the Jordanaires , You Win Again, by Hank Williams.Again the sound of the orginal was there.Of course Ferry's was great . But when you think of all the songwriters of that time who a lot were over-shadowed.a lot of good music of that era was really good .Rock & Roll, Rockabilly as it was called , the Blue Grass sound, The real Blues as it was meant to be. The likes of Hank Williams, Clarence Williams, Bill Monroe. -----This tribute is just this, each artist bringing his/her own individuality to each one's own personal timeless approach to the feel of the Sun Sound. If you don't look at the setlist & just listen you will find it hard to recognize some of the artist's as the sound is so different. British Airways Captain William Hagan, 53, from Glasgow, was selected in recognition of his bravery in overcoming a passenger who went berserk during a flight from London Gatwick to Nairobi in December last year. He was one of 12 who received a Royal Association for Disability and Rehabilitation (RADA) People of the Year 2001 Award at the Savoy Hotel in central London. The passenger attempted to seize the flight controls, and in doing so disengaged the autopilot and caused the plane to plunge 10,000ft in a series of nose-dives. After overpowering him, Captain Hagan wrestled with the controls and brought flight BA2069 under control, ensuring the safety of the 398 people on board. Before he received the award he said: "It is obviously a great accolade to be nominated as one of the 10 People of the Year. "I heard about it five weeks ago and was asked to maintain confidence about the award so I had to keep my excitement to myself, but to receive the honour is just wonderful." Asked what was going through his mind as he grappled with the intruder, he said: "I was just thinking about the job, and about how to get him off the controls. After that we had a couple of hours flying left and we had to see to other responsibilities such as passenger injuries and securing the aircraft against further attack." He said at the time he had no idea he would end up being honoured so greatly. Since this is the quickest way to reach the other people in Europe to whom I've sent packages this autumn, them all being onlist and all, if I have told you that your CDs are en route in the last two months and you have not received them, would you please contact me offlist at gmslegion@hotmail.com and let me know? Hi Doug, I have both though I haven't listened to them in a while. Both have skips in various places. I can't remember which but one of them is broken up into separate tracks - silence between that disrupts reliving the *live* experience. I can't remember about a difference in sound/speed. My turntable is *speed adjustable* for such problems so I don't recall it being a problem. I'll make a tape of each if someone else is willing to transfer to cd.
